Abstract: A device includes a first vibrational transducer and a second vibrational transducer. The first vibrational transducer has a first vibrating property. The second vibrotactile stimulator has a second vibrating property different than the first vibrating property. A collar may be configured to position the first vibrational transducer and the second vibrational transducer over a neck of a subject. A method for stimulating swallowing in a subject includes applying a first vibrotactile stimulation and applying a second vibrotactile stimulation to a throat area of the subject. The first vibrotactile stimulation has a first vibrating property and the second vibrotactile stimulation has a second vibrating property different than the first vibrating property. Example vibrating properties include vibrating frequency, vibrating frequency range, wave shape, continuousness, frequency phase, and direction of mechanical force.

Abstract: Described herein are embodiments of a system and a device for performing remote ischemic conditioning that may be configured to treat a subject in accordance with particular usage restrictions and/or a particular treatment protocol. More particularly, in some embodiments a RIC device may include at least two parts, an inflatable cuff to fit around a limb of a subject and a controller that operates the inflatable cuff to inflate and deflate and thus alternate between ischemia and reperfusion of the limb in accordance with a treatment protocol. The inflatable cuff may include a computer-readable storage and that storage may include usage restrictions and/or configuration settings for the controller, to configure the controller to operate the inflatable cuff in accordance with the usage restrictions and to perform a particular treatment protocol when operating the inflatable cuff.

Abstract: An indoor, electrically powered, and motorized handlebar structure that provides forward moving or stationary stability for mobility-challenged individuals includes a trolley support bar, a handle, a handle operating system, a control box, a drive assembly, an access control reader, at least one accessory, and a power source. The trolley support bar is mounted on to a solid surface area that can be a wall surface or a floor surface as the handle is operatively coupled to the trolley support bar by the drive assembly. The control box is terminally connected to the trolley support bar and house the access control reader, the at least one accessory, and the power source. The drive assembly, the access control reader, and the at least one accessory are electrically connected to the power source through the handle operating system so that handle can move between a forward direction and a backward direction.

One apparatus includes: an inflatable bladder assembly configured to inflate and deflate to move a head of a user; a conduit connected to the bladder assembly and configured to extend at a distance from the bladder assembly; an air inflator connected to the conduit for inflating the bladder assembly through the conduit, the air inflator being at the distance from the bladder assembly when in use to minimize noise, radiation or discomfort for the user a controller in communication with the air inflator to actuate the air inflator to inflate the bladder assembly; and an audio processor in communication with the controller, the audio processor being configured to detect sound waves and transmit control commands to the controller to trigger cyclical actuation of the air inflator upon a trigger event.

Abstract: Provided is a training device that suppresses unintended operation of an operation rod when executing an operation mode in which the operation of the operation rod is controlled based on a force applied to the operation rod. The training device includes the operation rod, a motor, a force detection unit, a rotation information output sensor, a first command calculation unit, and a force correction unit. The operation rod moves a limb. The motor operates the operation rod in a direction of degree of freedom. The force detection unit detects a force component and outputs a force component signal. The rotation information output sensor detects an operation position of the operation rod in a corresponding direction of degree of freedom. The force correction unit calculates a corrected force component value based on the operation positions of the operation rod and the force component signal. The first command calculation unit calculates a first motor control command based on the corrected force component value.

Abstract: Provided is a training device capable of executing a plurality of operation modes, in which an operation rod is appropriately operated according to an operation mode. The training device includes the operation rod, a plurality of motors, a plurality of force detection units, and a plurality of first command calculation units. The operation rod allows a limb to move. The plurality of motors operate the operation rod in the direction of degree of freedom in which the operation rod can move. Each of the force detection units detects a corresponding force component and outputs a force component signal. The first command calculation units are connected to the corresponding force detection units. Each of the first command calculation units calculates a first motor control command on the basis of the corresponding force component signal.
