Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a balloon coating method for forming a coating layer containing a water-insoluble drug on an outer surface of a balloon of a balloon catheter, the balloon catheter including the balloon which is inflatable and provided on a distal portion of an elongate shaft. The balloon coating method includes: accommodating the shaft in a groove portion formed in a support base to extend rectilinearly, and closing at least part of the groove portion with a lid portion, thereby to support the shaft such that the shaft can be rotated within the groove portion; and moving a dispensing tube for supplying a coating liquid containing the drug relative to the balloon in an axial direction of the balloon, while rotating the balloon about an axis of the balloon, thereby to coat the outer surface of the balloon with the coating liquid.
Abstract:
Methods and systems comprising a first and a second powder coating apparatus, with each apparatus comprising a tubular barrel having an axial bore extending longitudinally therethrough, are usable for coating an interior surface of a tubular member. Each coating apparatus comprises a conical member connected with the tubular barrel and at least one gas conduit connected to the tubular barrel for communicating gas into the tubular barrel. The at least one gas conduit contains a gas flow control valve connected thereto for controlling the volumetric flow rate of gas through the at least one gas conduit. Each coating apparatus further comprises at least one container for holding a coating material, an inlet conduit for communicating the coating material into the axial bore of the tubular barrel, and a plurality of gas nozzles connected to the tubular barrel for inducing spiraling gas flow through the axial bore of the tubular barrel.
Abstract:
A balloon coating method and a balloon coating apparatus are disclosed by which the thickness and/or morphological form of a drug in a coating formed on a balloon can be appropriately set. The balloon coating method can include moving a coating section for applying a coating liquid containing a drug relative to the balloon in the direction of an axis, while rotating the balloon about the axis of the balloon, thereby to apply the coating liquid to an outer surface of the balloon; detecting the distance of a dried part where the coating liquid applied to the outer surface of the balloon has been dried from the coating section; and controlling moving velocity of the coating section relative to the balloon in such a manner that the distance of the dried part from the coating section is maintained at a preliminarily set designated distance.
Abstract:
It is an object of the present invention to provide a method for uniformly forming a film on an outer circumferential portion of a metal automotive part by preventing penetration of a coating substance into a portion thereof unnecessary to be coated with paint. The method for producing a columnar or cylindrical metal automotive part whose outer circumferential surface includes a portion to be coated with paint and a portion to be uncoated therewith includes the following processes: (1) a process of providing a convergent nozzle-shaped covering jig which covers an outer circumferential surface of the columnar or cylindrical part at an axial end thereof and covers the portion to be uncoated with the paint, with a gap formed between the covering jig and the outer circumferential surface of the part; (2) a process of discharging a gas from the gap toward an end of a nozzle of the covering jig with the columnar or cylindrical part being rotated; (3) a process of sticking a film-forming substance to the columnar or cylindrical part from an axial side surface thereof.
Abstract:
A method of forming a coating layer on a golf ball includes spraying a first quantity of a coating composition onto the golf ball to form a partially-coated golf ball that has a first pole disposed in a top position, a second pole disposed in a bottom position, a diameter extending between the first and second poles, and an axis of rotation perpendicular to the diameter. After spraying the first quantity, the method includes rotating the partially-coated golf ball about the axis to translate the first and second poles such that the first pole is disposed in the bottom position and the second pole is disposed in the top position. After rotating, the method includes spraying a second quantity of the composition onto the partially-coated golf ball to form the coating layer on the golf ball. An apparatus for forming the coating layer on the golf ball is also disclosed.
Abstract:
Various embodiments relate to application of a fluid to a substrate. The fluid is locally heated, for example, to obtain a desired thickness profile.
Abstract:
A process and system for applying coating materials to glass edges of various profiles. The glass edge is coated by picking up the coating material from an applicator such as, for example, a roller, through precise independent or relative control of the spatial relationship between the edge of the glass article and the applicator to achieve desirable product attributes such as coating thickness, profile, coverage areas and consistency. Such spatial relationships include the gap distance between the roller and applicator, coating thickness on the applicator, applicator and/or glass speed, and the like.
Abstract:
Spray assemblies for use in coating a regular or irregular internal surface of a cylinder, and methods for coating the inside of a cylinder are disclosed. The spray assemblies may include: a spray head comprising a nozzle for spraying a coating material on an internal surface of a cylinder; a support wand coupled to the spray head; and a roller sleeve rotatably connected to the support wand and configured to contact the internal surface of the cylinder and to rotate radially as the cylinder is rotated. The spray assemblies may be used to provide a consistent and repeatable coating thickness, regardless of cylinder internal diameter. In some embodiments, the spray assemblies may be used to coat the internal surface of a stator tube.
Abstract:

Embodiments of the present invention encompass the coatings and the coated devices. The coatings may include a polymer and optionally a therapeutic agent.
Abstract:
To facilitate to apply a base sealant around a prominence uniformly in a high quality is required for a composite material. A sealant applying brush includes a supporting section having a hole opened in a longitudinal direction and a ring shape on a plane orthogonal to the longitudinal direction; and a brush section having hairs implanted in a surface of the ring shape. By supplying such a brush with sealant, and eccentrically rotating the brush such that an inner circumference surface of the hole contacts the prominence of the surface of the workpiece, the sealant can be applied in a circular area around the prominence.
