Abstract:
A method for applying a predetermined pattern of material onto an elongate tubular substrate includes securing a first portion of an elongate tube having a non-circular outer perimeter to an engagement member configured to be rotated by a first motor, such that the elongate tube can be rotated in unison with the engagement member, operating the first motor to rotate the elongate tube, operating a second motor of to change the relative displacement between the elongate tube and a dispensing conduit along a longitudinal axis of the elongate tube, and expelling a conductive adhesive from a fluid dispenser through the dispensing conduit to form a predetermined pattern of the conductive adhesive on a surface of the elongate tube, the predetermined pattern of the conductive adhesive covering at least 180 degrees of the surface along the non-circular outer perimeter over a width of at least two millimeters along the longitudinal axis.

A system paints the external and internal faces of a splayed end of a hollow shaft, with a rotary paint bench. This splayed end includes an end support face and an opposite support face. The system includes a fixing ring applied against the end support face and a counter-ring applied against the opposite support face as well as a fixing device, an end hub fixed to the fixing ring in line with the splayed end, and including a running belt suitable for resting on two rollers of the bench, a hollow external hub including two half-hubs delimiting a running belt suitable for resting on two rollers of the bench, and fixed to the counter-ring while surrounding the splayed end.
Abstract:
A spray application system for applying material to a surface of a rotating body such as a beverage can includes a detector that detects the actual speed of rotation of the surface during a spraying operation. This allows a controller to adjust trigger signals for the application device to be adjusted based on speed of rotation to minimize overcoat. A laser sensor may be used as an example. The use of the speed detector also allows for partial wraps as well as full wraps of applying material to the rotating surface.
Abstract:
A solenoid operated liquid spray device which includes a flow control module disposed within the solenoid coil of the device for controlling the direction of pressurized through the spray device. The flow control module includes separate inlet and outlet portions which can be easily disassembled for on line service without necessity for disconnecting fluid supply and electric power lines. The outlet portion is secured to the inlet portion by an adjustable retainer which is selectively positionable for adjusting the operating stroke of the valve plunger without the necessity for damaging relative rotational movement between the valve plunger needle and valve seat. The module portions further define a first flow passageway communicating between a liquid inlet and discharge nozzle and a second or return passageway communicating with a heated liquid supply for enabling liquid in the spray device to be maintained at an optimum heated temperature when a spraying operation is interrupted.
Abstract:
A method of coating an interior surface of a metal tube with a coating material including the steps of filling the tube with a fluid degradable transport material containing a dispersion of the coating material, rotating the tube, and induction heating the tube to a fusion point of the coating material.
Abstract:
The interior of a pipe is coated with a uniform thickness of plastic. A fluidized bed of heat-meltable plastic material in particular form is connected to the inlet end of the pipe, while the opposed end of the pipe is made attachable to a source of reduced pressure. A source of compressible fluid is also connected to the inlet end of the pipe. The pipe is preheated and then rotated axially while the compressible fluid flows therethrough. The compressible fluid flowing to the inlet is suddenly terminated while a flow from the fluidized bed is immediately established so that the vacuum at the outlet end of the pipe causes uninterrupted mass flow and pulls a finite pocket of the finely divided plastic into the pipe. The flow of particular plastic material is terminated, while the flow of compressed gas is immediately re-established, thereby pushing the pocket of plastic material into and through the pipe.
Abstract:
Methods and systems comprising a first and a second powder coating apparatus, with each apparatus comprising a tubular barrel having an axial bore extending longitudinally therethrough, are usable for coating an interior surface of a tubular member. Each coating apparatus comprises a conical member connected with the tubular barrel and at least one gas conduit connected to the tubular barrel for communicating gas into the tubular barrel. The at least one gas conduit contains a gas flow control valve connected thereto for controlling the volumetric flow rate of gas through the at least one gas conduit. Each coating apparatus further comprises at least one container for holding a coating material, an inlet conduit for communicating the coating material into the axial bore of the tubular barrel, and a plurality of gas nozzles connected to the tubular barrel for inducing spiraling gas flow through the axial bore of the tubular barrel.
Abstract:
A device for spraying a liquid for use in dye penetration inspection into an inner cavity of a workpiece for making a turbine engine part, the device including a workpiece support, a manifold for spraying the inspection liquid into the inner cavity, a manifold for sucking up and discharging the sprayed inspection liquid, and a mechanism for tilting at least a portion of the support from a substantially horizontal position to an inclined position in which the workpiece is inclined so that the inspection liquid sprayed into the cavity flows under gravity to a zone from which it is sucked up.
