Abstract: An assay unit for carrying-out fluorescence-detected assays having a microfluidic chip with a microfluidic system to convey a sample or analyte solution through one or more microfluidic channels arranged on the chip, and a photonic system with two or more rectangular waveguide structures. The microfluidic channels and the waveguide structures cross each other at a detection site. In an assay area, where a certain microfluidic channel and a certain waveguide structure cross each other, one or more lateral surfaces of the core of the waveguide structure at least partially face an inner volume of the microfluidic channel, such that an evanescent field of light guided within the waveguide structure overlaps with a certain part of the inner volume of the microfluidic channel.

Abstract: An optical system for imaging. The optical system includes light emitting diodes to provide light of predetermined wavelengths. Abstract: A hybrid optical-electrical automated testing equipment (ATE) system can implement a workpress assembly that can interface with a device under test (DUT) and a load board that holds the DUT during testing, analysis, and calibration. A test hand can actuate to position the DUT on a socket and align one or more alignment features. The workpress assembly can include two optical interfaces that are optically coupled such that light can be provided to a side of the DUT that is facing away from the load board, thereby enabling the ATE system to perform simultaneous optical and electrical testing of the DUT.

Abstract: An apparatus for spectral analysis comprises a first lens holder comprising a first lens, a second lens holder comprising a second lens, a first optical fiber, and a spectrometer. The first lens and the second lens are for receiving a scattered light beam and focusing it to a point. The first optical fiber is arranged between the first lens holder and the second lens holder. The first optical fiber receives a first light beam focused by the first lens, transmits the first light beam through, and then projects the first light beam on the second lens. The spectrometer is positioned on a side of the second lens holder opposite the first optical fiber. The second lens focuses the first light beam received from the first optical fiber and projects the first light beam onto the spectrometer so that the spectrometer can analyze the first light beam.

Abstract: A seamless fumed silica monolithic integrating cavity device tailored to analyzing a flowed sample. The device is configured to facilitate optical measurements taken from a sample flowed through a cavity of the device. The cavity is defined by a fumed silica monolith with the added feature of a fused quartz lining on the surface of the monolith. This provides an intermediate surface that allows for cleaning and reuse of the highly effective diffuse light scattering fumed silica monolith. The lining may be placed under pressure or vacuum to structurally enhance mechanical integrity of the underlying monolith. Thus, continued or reliably repeated use of the device may be appreciated as well as use in more industrial environments that are prone to vibration. Additionally, while well suited for flow-based sample analysis, a valve of the cavity may be utilized for holding a sample in a temporarily static state for measurement.

Abstract: A microplate reader simultaneously obtains Raman measurements from samples contained in non-adjacent wells. At least two Raman probes are positioned perpendicularly above or below the microplate to simultaneously acquire Raman spectra data of the non-adjacent liquid samples. Each probe is coupled to a laser and a spectrometer and includes a lens focusing laser light within the sample and collecting light from the sample for the spectrometer. The spectrometer may include a 2D imaging sensor (sCMOS or CCD) to image light from multiple probes simultaneously, spaced from one another to reduce crosstalk. A positioner moves the microplate plate or probes to acquire data from a different subset of non-adjacent samples, and may also vary laser focus within wells during data acquisition. Multiple fluorescence probes may simultaneously acquire fluorescence data from the same samples, or non-adjacent samples. Probes may be fiber-coupled and positioned within a reaction chamber of a liquid handling system.
