Abstract: An electrostatic atomizing apparatus includes a main body portion, a container, a first air flow path, a second air flow path, an electrostatic atomization unit, and an air flow generation unit. The container is detachable from the main body portion, is capable of storing a liquid, and includes a first ventilation hole and a second ventilation hole. The first air flow path includes a first end that includes an air suction port, and a second end that connects to the first ventilation hole. The second air flow path includes a third end that connects to the second ventilation hole, and a fourth end that includes an air exhaust port. The electrostatic atomization unit is disposed on the second air flow path. The air flow generation unit generates an air flow that causes air to flow through the first air flow path, through the container, and through the second air flow path.

Abstract: An electrostatic sprayer system for spraying a liquid includes a control system that provides user certification status control and usage reporting for the electrostatic sprayer system, including authorizing the user in conformity with the user's certification status and tracking the user, material(s), locations, duration of operation and amount of material being sprayed. The sprayer system includes a sprayer head having an outlet for dispensing a liquid that has been atomized and electrically charged via an electrode of the sprayer system, a vessel containing the liquid prior to dispensing, a power supply for providing a voltage and current to the electrode, a flow controller for controlling flow of liquid emitted from an outlet of the sprayer head, and a control system for controlling the flow controller in conformity with a certification status of a user of the sprayer system and reporting usage of the sprayer system to a database.

Abstract: A system is disclosed for use in manufacturing a composite structure. The system may include a support configured to move in a plurality of directions during manufacturing of the composite structure, and a head coupled to the support. The head may have a housing that is configured to receive a liquid matrix and at least one continuous fiber and configured to discharge a tubular structure. The head may also have a nozzle operatively connected to the housing and configured to deposit a material layer onto a surface of the tubular structure as the tubular structure is discharging from the housing, and a squeegee associated with the nozzle and configured to wipe over the material layer. The head may further have a first cure enhancer operatively connected to the housing and configured to cure the liquid matrix in the tubular structure during discharge, and a second cure enhancer configured to cure the material layer deposited by the nozzle.

Abstract: An electrostatic spray dryer for drying liquid into powder including an elongated body defining a drying chamber, a spray nozzle assembly at one end of the drying chamber and a filter element housing and powder collection chamber at an opposite end. A non-structural non-metallic liner is disposed within the elongated body in spaced relation to an inner wall surface for defining an internal drying zone. The liner is releasably supported within the body for enabling selective removal and replacement following a particular usage. The illustrated elongated body has a modular construction comprising a plurality of modules, with at least one being selectively removable and replacement for altering the length of the drying chamber for a particular spray application. The liner also is replaceable with a liner of a length corresponding to the altered length of the drying chamber or with a different diameter for a particular usage.

Abstract: In an example, an electrostatic spray module includes a base unit formed of a sturdy, rigid, liquid impermeable, electrically insulative material and a cover formed of a sturdy, rigid, liquid impermeable, electrically insulative material and sized for covering the base unit. The base unit and the cover configured for mating engagement together so as to form a liquid impermeable, electrically insulative, protective enclosure when the module is in a closed state to keep the internal components clean and dry and prevents system form high voltage shorting and prevents leakage of current by inhibiting a high voltage from establishing a return path to ground. The spray module includes a quick access latch and gasket system—with no tools required to open for maintenance. The module includes integral place holders for components including air supply manifold and variable voltage supply to provide a selectable high voltage level to accommodate various spraying application.

Abstract: A spray nozzle assembly is provided with an electrode, a wear resistant member, and a compliant sleeve. The wear resistant member supports the electrode and is supported by the compliant sleeve. For coating operations that use abrasive powder such as porcelain enamel, the wear resistant member may comprise ceramic. The compliant sleeve may be made of an elastic material such as plastic, which allows one end of the compliant sleeve to receive an end of a glass powder tube. The wear resistant member may be in the form of a ceramic spider. The electrode may be installed in-line with a powder flow path defined by the powder tube, which extends through a spray gun body.

Abstract: A powder spray gun includes a powder flow path inlet and a powder flow path outlet, the powder flow path inlet being connectable in a first configuration to a dilute phase powder pump and in a second configuration to a dense phase powder pump, wherein the powder spray gun comprises a spray nozzle that is the same for the first and second configurations. The powder flow path is provided by a powder tube that extends through the gun, with the powder tube having a first diameter at an inlet portion of the spray gun and a second diameter at an outlet portion of the spray gun, with the second diameter being greater than the first diameter. The powder flow path may also include a conical transition portion, and a member for adding air to the powder flow.
