Abstract:
A method for coating a surface of an electrically non-conductive substrate with powder coatings, the method comprising the following steps: providing a substrate to be coated, pre-heating the substrate to be coated to a temperature of 40 to 140° C. in order to decrease the surface resistance of the substrate to less than 1012 ohms, preferably to within the range of 1010 to less than 1012 ohms, electrostatically coating the surface with powder coating in a single layer, which powder coating comprises a reactive system which, in particular, cures into a thermoset, curing the powder coating layer at a temperature of 170° C. or less.
Abstract:
The present invention has to do with a method and system for coating and curing engineered wood products (EWP) in general, and the edges of EWPs in particular. One method for coating and curing medium density fiberboard (MDF) and other engineered wood laminates using coatings is provided.
Abstract:
An eco-friendly process for coating a plastic product includes several steps: (a) adding a conducting material to a thermoplastic material, (b) mixing the conducting material and the thermoplastic material homogeneously, and then molding into a product (c) spraying charged paint uniformly on the product (d) baking the painted product in ambient temperature atmosphere. Under this arrangement, plastic product made of different material could be produced without pre-treatment.
Abstract:
A method and a system for applying hot melt adhesive powder onto a non-metallic surface are disclosed. The hot melt adhesive powder is sprayed out from a spray head while being charged with electrostatic charges, and then the charged hot melt adhesive powder will be attached to the whole surface of a non-metallic component by electrostatic force, or only attached to a desired area of the non-metallic component by pre-coating the desired area with conductive liquid. By spraying the hot melt adhesive in the form of powder, there is no need to heat the adhesive in advance. When the surface of the non-metallic component is 3-dimensional, the charged adhesive powder can be introduced onto the surface of the to-be-bonded component and attached to the desired surface without the omni-directional spraying operation. Excessive powder will be easily blown or brushed away and will be recycled.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a process for powder coating shelving panels made of MDF or other particle board materials, peg board panels and other articles made of MDF, peg board or other wood-based products. The process comprises first mounting of the panel on a hanger assembly attachable to an overhead conveyor. The panel is passed through a preheat oven having a temperature of preferably from about 260° F. to about 280° F. for a period of from about 15 minutes to about 30 minutes. The preheated panel preferably having a surface temperature preferably of about 110° F. to 112° F. is then carried through a powder coating booth on a preferred hanger assembly where electrostatically charged particles are sprayed onto the surfaces of the panel.
Abstract:
An emulsion for preparing a low-conductivity surface for powder coating, the emulsion including an emulsified organofunctional silane solution. A pre-powder coating emulsion provides a surface with conductivity. A non-conductive object having applied to an exterior surface of the object the emulsion including an emulsified organofunctional silane solution.

Abstract:
Low resistivity graphite coated fibers having exfoliated and pulverized graphite platelets coated on an outer surface of electrically insulating fibers are provided. Various methods are also provided for surface coating of the graphite platelets onto the insulating fibers which are provided to increase the glass fiber surface conductivity. The graphite coated glass fibers can be used to produce reinforced composite materials. Reinforced composite materials incorporating the graphite coated fibers can be electrostatically painted without using a conductive primer.
Abstract:
A powder coating material for use in the electrostatic powder coating of pharmaceutical tablet cores has the following properties: it is pharmaceutically acceptable, it is treatable to form a film coating on the surfaces of the tablet core and it includes composite particles comprising two or more components having different physical and/or chemical properties.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a thermoset polymer substrate having applied thereto an ionizable compound and an electrostatic powder coating. In an embodiment, the present invention provides a thermoset polymer substrate having an image on at least one surface thereof, said substrate having applied thereto an ionizable compound, an electrostatic powder coating, and a carrier for transferring the image thereon. Methods of providing a powder coating composition on a substrate, and methods of providing an image on at least one surface of the substrate are also presented.
