Abstract:
This invention generally relates to a painter's masking tape that covers well and is easy to tear in a straight edge without the use of scissors or other mechanical means. The tape comprises perforated portions that allow for the easy tearing of the tape. The bottom surface of the tape has an adhesive layer that is easily removed from the surface of the object to be protected. The non-adhesive portion is coated with an impervious coating to prevent the seepage of the paint or other liquid through the tape and onto the protected surface. The perforated portions of the tape are also made impervious to liquids by either being covered with an impervious coating, film, or tape pieces.

Techniques are disclosed for producing multilayered composites of adhesive nanofiber composites. Specifically, one or more sheets of highly aligned nanofibers are partially embedded in an adhesive such that at least a portion of the nanofiber sheet is free from adhesive and is available to conduct current with adjacent electrical features. In some example embodiments, the adhesive nanofiber composites are metallized with a conductive metal and in these and other embodiments, the adhesive nanofiber composites may also be stretchable.

Provided is a PSA sheet capable of showing high long-term adhesive strength and good air release properties between the PSA sheet and an adherend. This invention provides a PSA sheet comprising a substrate film and a PSA layer provided to at least one face of the substrate film. The PSA sheet comprises a coating layer partially covering the PSA layer surface, whereby the PSA layer surface has a coating layer-bearing area and a coating layer-free area. The coating layer-free area occupies 70% or more of the PSA layer surface. In a top view of the PSA layer surface, the coating layer-bearing area has a linearly extending part running from one edge to another edge of the PSA layer. The linearly extending part has a width in a range of 0.1 mm to 2 mm.

“Green”, ceramic tapes intended as building blocks for making complex, fully ceramic components and devices for electronic-, lab-on-chip-, and sensing applications, the manufacture of which comprises in sequence: I. mixing of a ceramic “green” paste, II. homogenisation of a ceramic “green” paste, III. dimensioning and optionally structuring the ceramic “green” paste, IV. drying of the dimensioned and structured ceramic paste, in which: step iii) is performed in a combination of an extruder and a calender, the extruder being provided with a circular extrusion die, splitting and unfolding the extruded tube to a flat, continuous tape strip, using methylcellulose or derivatives thereof as binder, and, an additional step chosen among cutting and punching the thus dimensioned and optionally structured “green” paste, thereby making thick, “green” tapes. A method for its manufacture is also contemplated.

A dampening structure includes a polymer layer having a first surface and a second surface. The first surface includes a plurality of micro-structures, wherein each of the micro-structures has a width of less than about 400 microns. An elastic modulus of the polymer layer is greater than about 0.1 MPa and less than about 5 GPa at 25° C. The polymer layer is non-tacky.

Provided is a pressure sensitive adhesive sheet containing a resin layer on a substrate or a release material, at least a surface (α) of the resin layer being opposite to the side thereof on which the substrate or the release material is provided having pressure sensitive adhesiveness, wherein, when a smooth surface of a light transmissive adherend having a smooth surface is attached to the surface (α), one or more concave portion (G) not kept in contact with the smooth surface exist on the surface (α), and the shapes of the one or more concave portions (G) have irregular shapes. The pressure sensitive adhesive sheet has excellent air escape property capable of readily removing air accumulation that may be formed on attaching to an adherend, and has good pressure sensitive adhesion characteristics.
