The present invention relates to diesel fuel and lubrication oil defoaming agents, and crude oil demulsifiers, as well as methods for using same. In particular, the defoaming agents and demulsifiers are comprised of copolymers which have structures constituting a backbone of polysiloxane onto which is grafted an organic group. These structures comprise a polymer of the formula MDxDnullyDnullzM, where M is O0.5Si(CH3)3, D is a OSi(CH3)2, Dnull is OSi(CH3)R, Dnull is OSi(CH3)Rnull, R is a polyhydric C6-C28 organic group, Rnull is a phenol derivative or a long chain aliphatic group or polyethers, z is between 0 and 80, xnullynullz is between 10-200, x/z is null1, and x/(ynullz) is between about 1 and about 5, or formula MnullDaMnull where Mnull is O0.5Si(CH3)2R, a is between 4-10, and R and D are the same as defined above.

There is disclosed a friction reducing compound, comprising an intermediate adduct of a first moiety reacted in a first reaction with a second moiety to form the intermediate adduct and further esterifying or amidafying the intermediate adduct with a third moiety in a molar ratio of from about 1:2 to about 2:1, wherein the first moiety is an unsaturated synthetic dieneophilic base oil, wherein the second moiety is a compound having a diene conjugated carbon-carbon double bond and a carboxylic acid moiety or anhydride group, wherein the first reaction comprises mixing the first moiety with the second moiety in a molar ratio of from about 1:2 to about 2:1 under an inert atmosphere; and wherein the third moiety is a polyhydroxy compound.

This invention relates to a composition, comprising: (A) a compound represented by the formula RO(C4H8O)nCH2CH2CH2NH2 (I) wherein in formula (I), R is an aliphatic hydrocarbyl group of about 8 to about 30 carbon atoms, an n is a number in the range of about 12 to about 30; and (B) a compound selected from the group consisting of: a fatty acid; a fatty acid amide; a fatty acid ester; an amide, imide or ester derived from a hydrocarbyl substituted succinic acid or anhydride wherein the hydrocarbyl substituent has about 8 to about 30 carbon atoms; an alkoxylated amine, and mixtures of two or more thereof. The invention also relates to concentrates and fuels containing the foregoing composition.

The reaction product of (i) an oligomer formed from one monomer or two or more different monomers, the or each monomer being an ethylenically unsaturated compound and said oligomer or each of said monomers being optionally partially or fully esterified, with (ii) a polyalkenyl derivative of an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic reagent (iii), and (iv) a polyamine containing at least two --NH.sub.2 and/or --NH groups, wherein at least one of the ethylenically unsaturated compounds of the oligomer has a functional group which can react with an amine; and the use of the reaction product for its dispercency and low haze properties in lubricant compositions, fuel compositions and additive concentrates.

A polyol ester distillate fuel additive exhibits improved lubricity and friction and wear performance. The ester has between about 1% and about 35% unconverted hydroxyl groups and is characterized as having a hydroxyl number from about 5 to about 180.
