Abstract: A massaging device includes two caps, and a number of beams disposed between the caps and secured to the caps, and the beams each include a number of massaging projections for massaging purposes. A housing is slidably disposed between the caps and movable between the caps, the housing includes a number of massaging members. The housing includes a number of slots for slidably engaging with the beams respectively. The housing includes a chamber, and the caps each include a tubular element extended and engaged into the chamber of the housing. Abstract: A trigger point therapy device for applying pressure to a localized area of myofascial tissue that is accessed from the exterior of a patient's body. The therapy device includes a base portion has top and bottom surfaces that define a width dimension for the base portion. The therapy device also includes a pressure applicator that is connected to the base portion. The device allows an equivalent amount of pressure to be applied while the patient is lying on a soft surface as compared to lying on a hard surface. This increases the length of time that a patient will can comfortably use the device and promotes usage of the device by the patient. A method includes placing the device on a soft surface and positioning a patient on the soft surface to place the pressure applicator in engagement with the localized area of myofascial tissue.

The pedicure spa may linearly translate the chair relative to the basin while the basin and the chair are in a raised position. The pedicure spa may sense an obstruction below the basin and automatically interrupt lowering of the basin.

Abstract: Preclinical and clinical studies have shown that the autonomic nervous system (parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems) show reliable changes across the sleep wake cycle. Most importantly, the parasympathetic nervous system shows increased activity during sleep consistent with its role in regulating rest. Further, patients with insomnia show reduced parasympathetic activity and/or increased sympathetic activity during sleep consistent with a neurobiological model of “hyperarousal”. Described herein are methods and apparatuses that activate the parasympathetic nervous system in response to a diving reflex; a sustained diving reflex may, surprisingly, lead to enhancing sleep. The apparatuses and methods described herein may specifically and/or selectively activate this reflex may play a therapeutic role in the modulation of sleep in insomnia patients.

Abstract: A gait training apparatus includes: a walking assistance device that is attached to a leg portion of a user and assists walking of the user; a peripheral device used for gait training of the user; a control unit that controls the walking assistance device and the peripheral device; and a switching unit that switches the control unit between a cooperative control mode for performing a cooperative control of the walking assistance device and the peripheral device based on information output from the walking assistance device, and an operation mode for controlling the peripheral device based on set operation information. When the control unit is switched to the operation mode by the switching unit, the control unit executes the control of the peripheral device even when the control unit is in a non-connected state with the walking assistance device.

Abstract: Assistive movement devices and methods therefor are provided that are capable of redirecting loads from an individual's foot to hip when an individual is recovering from an injury at or below the knee. The devices include a frame assembly comprising an upper member, a lower member, and a joint therebetween. An upper attachment is secured to the upper member and is configured to be secured to the thigh of the individual's leg, and a lower attachment is secured to the lower member or the base and is configured to be secured to a portion of the leg below a knee thereof. A base is secured to the lower member and is configured to support a foot of the leg, and the device adjustably redirects at least a portion of a load resulting from the individual standing and walking from the base to the upper attachment.
