Abstract:
An annular airflow regulating apparatus includes a cup-shaped element and an adjustment element. The cup-shaped element has a bowl and a bottom, integrated to form a first chamber. The bottom has a tapered channel parallel to an axis and penetrating through the bottom. A ring-shaped groove is disposed between the tapered channel and the bottom. The ring-shaped groove has an annular plane perpendicular to the axis. The adjustment element, having a tapered portion and second holes, is movably disposed in the cup-shaped element. The tapered portion protrudes into the tapered channel A tapered annular gap is formed between the tapered portion and the tapered channel. When the adjustment element is moved with respect to the cup-shaped element, a width of the tapered annular gap is varied, and thereupon a flow rate and velocity of the process gas would be varied accordingly.
Abstract:
Methods are provided for producing an intermittent liquid jet are provided that involve delivering a liquid through a gas dynamic nozzle, which includes an inner tube carrying the liquid, an outer tube carrying a focussing sheath gas, an exit channel and an exit aperture, injecting a stream of the liquid into the exit channel, wherein the liquid is enclosed by the focussing sheath gas in the exit channel, controlling emission of the liquid from the inner tube into the exit channel to produce a periodic, linear intermittent liquid jet including spurts of linear continuous jet sections separated by liquid-free gaps, and output of the intermittent liquid jet through the exit aperture. Furthermore, methods of scattering measurements on samples in a liquid using the method of producing an intermittent liquid jet and an injector device for producing an intermittent liquid jet are described.
Abstract:
A steam atomizing liquid spraying system which in the preferred embodiment includes a spray nozzle assembly having a central liquid passageway for coupling to a liquid supply and a plurality of spray nozzles each removably mounted in the nozzle body and having a respective central steam passage communicating with a steam supply. The spray nozzles each further have a plurality of circumferentially spaced liquid accelerating passages that communicate with a respective angled passage of the nozzle body which in turn communicates with the central liquid supply passageway for directing liquid into the central steam passage of the spray nozzle for interaction with steam directed through the central steam passage and atomization of liquid discharging from the spray nozzle. In an alternative embodiment, a single spray nozzle insert is utilized.
Abstract:
A substantially planar assembly for depositing material. The assembly comprises plates which, when assembled, define at least one aerosol channel, a sheath gas plenum, and a nozzle. These components are preferably anisotropic, and preferably rectangular. The aerosol channel may be divided further to improve uniformity of aerosol flow.
Abstract:
A dispensing head for emitting an atomized spray of liquid droplets includes an actuator and a nozzle insert. The actuator includes a gas duct and a liquid duct and may be attached to a container housing a propellant gas and a liquid product. The nozzle insert includes at least one modular structure that can be installed in an actuator socket on the actuator. The nozzle insert includes a pressure cap defining a pressure chamber having an exit orifice. A liquid conduit is disposed in the pressure chamber and defines a liquid supply channel having a liquid supply channel exit opening. The nozzle insert is configured to form a reflux cell in the liquid supply channel upstream of the liquid supply channel exit opening to achieve flow blurring interaction between the liquid product and the gas propellant.
Abstract:
An electrostatic sprayer for spraying a liquid includes a nozzle formed from a a nozzle body that has an inlet for receiving a liquid and a liquid tip having an outlet for ejection of the liquid to form a liquid spray. The nozzle also includes an electrode disposed around the outlet of the liquid tip for charging the liquid and a dielectric shroud disposed around at least a portion of the liquid tip to prevent leakage currents from reducing a potential of the electric field between the liquid and the electrode, which would otherwise reduce the effectiveness of the sprayer. A conductor that couples the electrode to a power supply may pass through a hole extending through the shroud. The shroud may include one or more vents to permit air and liquid to pass through the dielectric shroud to reduce accumulation of liquid.
Abstract:
An embodiment of the present invention is an air brush including a housing, a head assembly, and a trigger assembly. The housing has a main body with an air valve, reservoir and a handle. The head assembly mounts to the main body with a nozzle, nozzle cap, and a needle cap. The trigger assembly fits within the housing and includes a needle engaging the head assembly, a needle chucking guide, a needle chucking nut, a lever assembly, a spring guide and a spring device. The lever assembly actuates the needle to release compressed air and contents of the reservoir. The spring device controls release of the contents relative to the air flow through the air valve and nozzle. The spring device includes a first spring, a second spring, and a ring member. The ring member is positioned between the springs, and the springs have different strengths.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for forming aerosol, the device comprising at least one gas-dispersing atomizer for atomizing a liquid into aerosol by means of gas at an atomizing head of the atomizer and an atomizing chamber, which is in flow connection with the atomizing head and in which flow restraints are arranged for changing the hydrodynamic properties of the aerosol flow discharging from the atomizing head. According to the present invention the flow restraints are arranged in the inner walls of the atomizing chamber in such a manner that they protrude from the inner walls to the inside of the atomizing chamber.
Abstract:
A modular fuel nozzle air swirler for a gas turbine engine has a body defining a fuel passage extending between an inlet end and a discharge end of the body. An annular cap is removably secured to the discharge end of the body via cooperating interlocking members.
Abstract:
A sprayer which inhibits or prevents clogging from occurring in a nozzle when a liquid is ejected from the nozzle includes a nozzle having a first internal tube through which a first liquid passes, and a second internal tube through which a second liquid passes. An external tube is provided in which the first internal tube and the second internal tube are positioned so that the gas passes therebetween. In the sprayer, each distal end part of the first internal tube and the second internal tube includes a gas permeable film impermeable to each liquid, and permeable to the gas.
