Abstract:
An x-ray device utilizes a band of material to exchange charge through tribocharging within a chamber maintained at low fluid pressure. The charge is utilized to generate x-rays within the housing, which may pass through a window of the housing. Various contact rods may be used as part of the tribocharging process.

A high dose output, through transmission target X-ray tube and methods of use includes, in general an X-ray tube for accelerating electrons under a high voltage potential having an evacuated high voltage housing, a hemispherical shaped through transmission target anode disposed in said housing, a cathode structure to deflect the electrons toward the hemispherical anode disposed in said housing, a filament located in the geometric center of the anode hemisphere disposed in said housing, a power supply connected to said cathode to provide accelerating voltage to the electrons.
Abstract:
Heat dissipation of a target is enhanced in a transmissive X-ray generating apparatus where an anode member constitutes a part of a container. An anode member configured to hold a target is divided into an outer anode member, which is configured to hold the target and is connected to a container, and an inner anode member, which is joined to an insulating tube and is closer to an electron emitting portion than the outer anode member is. The outer circumferential surface of the inner anode member is joined to the outer anode member via a joining member. Heat generated by the electron emitting portion is dissipated mainly from the inner anode member via the insulating tube, or directly, to an insulating liquid.

Abstract:
For manufacturing a radiation window for an X-ray measurement apparatus, and etch stop layer is first produced on a polished surface of a carrier. A thin film deposition technique is used to produce a structural layer on an opposite side of said etch stop layer than said carrier. The combined structure comprising said carrier, said etch stop layer, and said structural layer is attached to a region around an opening in a support structure with said structural layer facing said support structure. The carrier is etched away.
Abstract:
An X-ray generator is provided using a transmission type target having a long life span, where it is possible to change the point for generating X-rays on the surface of the target while maintaining the vacuum chamber in a high vacuum state. A portion of a vacuum chamber 1 that includes a target 2 is linked to a main body portion 1a of the chamber through a linking member 5 as a movable chamber portion 1b. A fixed anode 12 is provided between the target 2 and the electrode 10 at the final stage from among a group of electrodes 8, 9 and 10 for electrostatically accelerating and converging electrons from an electron source 7 and is fixed to the main body portion 1a of the chamber in order to prevent the form of the electrical field from changing when the movable chamber portion 1b is shifted.
Abstract:
In a radiation tube, a conductive member having an opening formed therein is disposed, and a dielectric is disposed in the conductive member. Thus, foreign matter that has entered the conductive member through the opening is trapped by the dielectric. As a result, discharge due to foreign matter can be reduced.
Abstract:
A transmission-type target includes a target layer and a transmissive substrate. The target layer is configured to generate X-rays in response to irradiation of electrons. The transmissive substrate supports the target layer and is configured to allow the X-rays generated in the target layer to pass therethrough. The transmissive substrate includes polycrystalline diamond in which grain boundaries extend in a substrate thickness direction and a substrate plane direction. The grain boundaries define an electrical potential of the target layer.

Abstract:
A transmission x-ray tube comprising an end window hermetically sealed to a flexible coupling. The flexible coupling can allow the window to shift or tilt in one direction or another direction to allow an electron beam to impinge upon one region of the window or another region of the window.A method of utilizing different regions of an x-ray tube target by tilting an x-ray tube window at an acute angle with respect to an electron beam axis to cause an electron beam to impinge on a selected region of the window and tilting the window in a different direction to allow the electron beam to impinge on a different selected region of the window.
