PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily producing a (meth)acrylic ester by which a light color esterification product is obtained in high yield. SOLUTION: This method for producing a (meth)acrylic ester comprises esterifying acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid with at least one compound having at least one alcoholic hydroxyl group while adding to the reaction system a hydrocarbon with a boiling point of 60-140 deg.C as a water azeotropic agent at 90-150 deg.C in the presence of an acidic esterification catalyst and a polymerization inhibitor, and after esterification, distilling the water azeotropic agent and excess (meth)acrylic acid off at 90-150 deg.C under a normal or reduced pressure, and if necessary, neutralizing the product obtained after distillation with at least one basic inorganic compound, wherein a copper (II) salt or a mixture composed of the copper (II) salt and a copper (I) salt to be deposited after esterification as a copper sulfide and separated is used as the polymerization inhibitor.
