Abstract: UV- and heat-curable aqueous polyurethane dispersion based on aliphatic polyisocyanates and low-mol. wt. aliphatic compounds with at least 2 hydroxyl, mercapto or amino groups also contains compounds with NCO-reactive groups and UV-polymerizable double bonds, carboxylic or sulfonic acids with NCO-reactive groups and an isocyanate blocking agent. UV- and heat-curable aqueous polyurethane dispersions (PD), essentially comprising: (a) aliphatic polyisocyanates with an NCO functionality of 2-4.5, (b) compounds with isocyanate-reactive group(s) and C=C double bond(s) which can be polymerized with UV in presence of a photoinitiator, (c) aliphatic compounds with a mol. wt. of less than 500 and at least 2 isocyanate-reactive hydroxyl, mercapto or prim. and/or sec. amino groups, (d) compounds with isocyanate-reactive group(s) and carboxylic or sulfonic acid group(s), (e) a basic compound for at least partial neutralization of the acid groups in (d), (f) an isocyanate blocking agent (f1) with a deblocking temperature of 70-160 deg C or an added low-mol. wt. compound (f2) with blocked isocyanate groups, and (g) optionally compounds other than (b-f) with only one isocyanate-reactive group. Dispersions (PD) are obtained by reacting (a) with (b) and (c) using a stoichiometric excess of NCO groups over OH groups and with sufficient (d) and (e) for good dispersibility in aqueous media, and then introducing blocked isocyanate groups by reaction with (f1) or by addition of (f2) containing (b) as additive.

Abstract: The invention relates to a curable aqueous polyurethane dispersion that substantially consists of a) at least one compound that has two free isocyanate groups, at least one allophanate group and at least one radically polymerizable C=C double bond, a carbonyl group or an oxygen atom in ether function being directly bound to the double bond, b) at least one compound that has at least one isocyanate reactive group and one radically polymerizable C=C double bond, c) optionally at least one compound that has at least one isocyanate reactive group and at least one acidic group, e) at least one alkaline compound that neutralizes or partially neutralizes the acidic groups of compound d), and a thermal initiator. The invention also relates to the use of these dispersions for coating substrates.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the production of adhesive-free, reduced-migration and reduced-yellowing coatings, in particular Foliendeckstrichen. Inventive coating materials containing less than 0.1 weight % of a photoinitiator and even in the absence of a photoinitiator can be hardened by exposure to UV-radiation, if the coating materials contain (meth)acrylate groups (A) and >CH-O-ether structure units (B) in certain minimum amounts, whereby (A) and (B) can also be accommodated in one molecule or in different molecules. The method exhibits many economic, technical and toxicological advantages due to said reduction of the amount of photoinitiators or the absence of photoinitiators.

Abstract: The invention relates to aqueous polyurethane dispersions which can be hardened with UV radiation and thermally. Said polyurethane dispersions contain the following: compounds bonded with polyisocyanates, with C=C doubl e bonds that can be polymerised with UV-radiation; aliphatic diols inserted wi th isocyanates, with a molecular weight of less than 500 g/mol; compounds bonde d with isocyanates, with carboxylic acid or sulphonic acid groups and/or salts thereof, free hydroxyl groups and compounds with blocked isocyanate groups. The inventive polyurethane dispersions are suitable for coating thermostable substrates such as metal substrates and can be advantageously used for clear automobile lacquers.
