Abstract: PURPOSE: To manufacture a double layer by a wet lap coating method using an extrusion coating machine capable of extremely thinly applying an upper layer containing a magnetizable pigment and a lower lay capable of pref. containing a non-magnetic additive increasing conductivity or reducing light permeability. CONSTITUTION: At least two slot dies for stacking a plurality of layers to apply them to a soft non-magnetic base material by a wet-on-wet system are provided and the upper lip of the common outlet orifice of the slot dies is set back from the lower lip thereof. A magnetic recording medium is produced by an extrusion coating machine constituted so that a right parallelepiped magnet of which the upper end is opposed to an extruder orifice at a distance of 0.1-5 mm is arranged behind a base material in parallel thereto and an uppermost magnetizable layer has a dry thickness of 2.0 μm or more and the lower layer adjacent thereto, pref., a non-magnetic layer has a dry thickness of 0.5 μm or less.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To maximize the yield of a magnetic material by using a PVD method by vapor deposition of the magnetic material in an oblique angle direction at the time of forming a thin-film metallic layer on a polymer substrate. CONSTITUTION: The web-like substrate 2 passes over such a drum-like supporting body 1 which has a radius R and of which the revolving shaft is the origin of an x/y coordinate system. Coating screens 3, 3' condense the metallic vapor jet from a crucible evaporator 4 onto the substrate 2 at the point of a range 5. The angel range opened for coating on the substrate 2 is regulated by graduation angles Φ1 , Φ2 and is determined by the position of the evaporator 4. The coordinate base point of the angles Φ2, Φ1 is calculated in the counterclockwise direction starting from the position Xaxis of the coordinate system existing at the revolving shaft of the drum-like supporting body 1. The coordinate system of the evaporator 4 is like equation I. In the equation, A: the max. value of the quantity of the metal vapor butting against the substrate 2, β1 , β2 : the angles between the central perpendicular line of the evaporator 4 and the line connecting the center of the evaporator 4 and the ends of the coating screens 3, 3', (n): the evaporation rate specific to the evaporating metal source and is a value of 2 to 5.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To enable the increase of perpendicular coercive force and saturation magnetization without rising a substrate temp. and to improve a reproducing level by subjecting a polymer substrate film to a plasma pretreatment by etching using a prescribed gas then depositing a magnetic material layer by evaporation. CONSTITUTION: The magnetic recording medium formed by laminating cobalt/ chromium layers of coherent ferromagnetic thin layers on the polymer material is subjected to the plasma pretreatment by ion etching or plasma etching using the nitrogen- or oxygen-contg. gas. At this time, the magnetic moment per cobalt atom in the magnetic layer is increased and the perpendicular coercive force is increased. As a result, the recording properties and reproducing level are improved without rising the temp. of the substrate.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To prepare a dispersion liquid to form a back layer which shows no decrease in gloss or increase in roughness, nor decrease in mechanical characteristics such as wear resistance by completing dispersion under specified technical conditions and then maintaining the stable state. CONSTITUTION: The magnetic recording carrier consists of a nonmagnetic base tape, a magnetic layer formed on the principal surface of the base tape, and a back coating layer comprising a polymer binder, nonmagnetic filler and supporting pigment. The back layer contains 15 to 40vol.% precipitated silica to the whole volume. The precipitated silica contains 98 to 99.5 % SiO2 and has pH=5 to 7 and 90 to 650m /g specific surface area. The surface of the silicate is covered with a polyurethane by 0.05 to 0.25g/m coating amt. This polyurethane has 40000 to 120000 average mol.wt. Mw and contains 10 to 100mg equiv. phosphate groups per 1kg of polyurethane.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To degauss a perfectly packed pancake by means of a fast cycle time by permitting a recording carrier to be insertable into a coil with a lift-up device in an axial line direction. CONSTITUTION: The magnetic recording carrier 8 is carried to a degaussing device 1 in an arrow direction on a conveyor belt 7. The device consists of a solenoid, providing cylindrical coil windings, and the coil windings are driven with a charged capacitor 6. When the recording carrier 8 reaches the device 1, the conveyor belt 7 is stopped, and the recording carrier 8 is lifted-up into the inner space of the device 1 by the lifting device 5. Therefore, the recording carrier 8 is coaxially arranged in the coil, the capacitor 6 discharges with the coil windings at this time and the recording carrier 8 is perfectly and efficiently degaussed by an alternating magnetic filed which occurs in a form of a damped vibration.

The position of the defect is decided by the comparison of reproduced information and which one of copy process or the defect of a copy tape is related in the master tape, is simultaneously established.

Displacable indication members 5, 29, 30 closing at least partially the opening 13 are provided in the cassette and at least one hook part of the indication members grasps the wall surface part of the case. The indicaton parts 5, 29, 30 are displaced by a hook part 7 by being guided on inner walls 8, 32 and the inner walls are provided by forming an angle α with respect to the rear wall 14 in the case. As a result, the indicaton members 5, 29, 30 are made to be displaced in the case in an opening direction along an inclined moving path.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To surely reduce attraction force based on static electricity by providing an antistatic material on a part or the whole of at least the surface of the inner wall of a cover flap and making the surface resistance value be smaller than a specified value. CONSTITUTION: A front side inner wall 15 provided with hatching for which a metal processing is indicated over the entire surface, an upper side inner wall 16 and side walls 17 and 18 are indicated. Then, since the front side inner wall 15 is arranged almost parallelly to a tape 14 near the tape when the cover flap 13 is closed, it is very advantageous when the front side inner wall 15 is provided with a layer made of the antistatic material for partially or entirely covering the inner wall. Further, the upper side inner wall 16, and the side part inner walls 17 and 18 as well depending on a case, are similarly processed. In this case, by making the resistance value of the surface of the antistatic material be smaller than 10 Ω, the influence of the static electricity is weakened and the damage of the tape or the like is prevented.
