    Abstract: Partially cross-linked synthetic materials (M) with a melt flow index (MFI) of 0.1-100 g/10 minutes (230 degrees C, 2.16 kg) and gel content less than 12 wt.% comprise: (A) a polymer of (A1) 60-92 wt.% propylene homopolymer and (A2) 8-40 wt.% propylene copolymer with 15-70 wt.% 2-10C alk-1-ene comonomers ; and (B) a compound of formula (H2C=C(R )-CO2)nX (I), where R = H or 1-4C alkyl; X = optionally substituted 1-30C alkyl or 7-30C arylalkyl, optionally containing at least one ether or carboxy function O atoms and/or NR groups in the alkyl chain; R = H or 1-6C (hydroxy)alkyl; and n = 2-3. (M) are prepared by reacting (A) and (B) for 0.2-10 minutes at 180-280 degrees C and 1-100 bar. Also claimed is this preparation method.

    Abstract: Catalyst systems for the polymerisation of olefinically unsaturated compounds, containing (A) a metallocene complex of a Sub-Group 4, 5 or 6 metal, (B) a metallocenium ion-forming compound and (C) a sterically hindered organic Lewis base. Also claimed is a process for the production of polymers by linking at least two unsaturated monomers at 0-450 degrees C and 0.1-500000 kPa in presence of a catalyst system as above. Preferably component (B) is a 1-10C aluminoxane, and component (C) is a sterically hindered hydroxyaryl or aryloxyaluminium compound, preferably a phenol, naphthol or hydroxyanthracene derivative in which the ring positions directly adjacent to the hydroxy or aluminoxy groups are substituted with bulky groups.

    Abstract: Adducts consists of (a) an epoxide of formula (I) (where, R1 = polypropylene residue having a number average molecular wt. of 150-5000 g/molecular; R2 and R3 = H or CH3, where R2 and R3 are not H and CH3 at the same time); and (b) an amine of formula (II) (where W = H or Z; Z = H or alkylene imine of formula (III), Alk = alkylene; R4 and R5 = H, (cyclo)alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, aminoalkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, aryl, arylalkyl, or heteroaryl, or together with the N atom form a heterocyclic ring; Alk, R4 and/or R5 can be substituted by alkyl residues carrying hydroxy or amino groups, m = 0-10). Also claimed are (a) the production of the adducts; (b) a fuel composition containing the adducts in 20-5000 mg/kg fuel; and (c) an additive mixture for fuels and lubricants containing the adducts, optionally in combination with usual additive components.

    Abstract: A process for the production of polymers of 2-12C alkenes at -50 to 300 degrees C and 0.5-3000 bar in presence of a catalyst system, with the addition of a compound of formula H-M )R (I); where M = B, Al, Ga, In or Tl; R , R = H, 1-10C alkyl, 6-15C aryl, or alkaryl or aralkyl with a 1-10C alkyl and a 6-20C aryl group, or 5- to 7-membered cycloalkyl (optionally substituted with 1-10C alkyl); or R + R may form a 4-15C cyclic group. Preferably R and R together form part of a 4-15C bicyclic group; M = boron. The catalyst system contains (A) a metallocene complex and (B) a metallocenium ion-forming compound. A metal compound of formula M )r(R )s(R )t (IV) may also be added; M = alkali or alkaline earth metal, or a Sub-Group III metal, i.e. B, Al, Ga, In or Tl; R = 1-10C alkyl, 6-15C aryl, or alkaryl or aralkyl with 1-10C alkyl and 6-20C aryl groups; R , R = as for R , or also halogen or 1-10C alkoxy; r = 1-3; s, t = 0-2; r + s + t = the valency of M .
