    Abstract: Prepn. of 3-aminomethyl-3,5,5-tri- methylcyclohexylamine (I) comprises reacting 3-cyano-3,5,5-tri- methylcyclohexanone (II) with (I) and subsequently or simultaneously adding ammonia under a H2 pressure of 50-300 bar in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst at a temp. of 20-150 deg C, and carrying out the reaction without removing the water of reaction formed. Pref. the mol. ratio (II):(I)=0.5:1 to 5:1 and the wt. ratio ammonia:(II)=0.1:1 to 10:1. The hydrogenation catalyst pref. contains at least one element chosen from Cu or an element of gp. VIII, esp. Raney-Co, Raney-Ni, Co or Co-carrier catalysts. The reaction is pref. carried out essentially in the absence of a solvent.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for obtaining hexamethylene diamine (I) from a mixture (II) containing (I) hexamethylene diamine, (III) hexamethylenimine, (IV) a compound selected from the group consisting of 2-aminomethyl cyclopentylamine and 1,2-diaminocyclohexane, (V) an imine, and (VI) adipodinitrile and 6-aminocaproic acid nitrile. According to said method, (a) a mixture (II) is subjected to distillation, yielding (a1) a low-boiling fraction which essentially contains (III), (a2) a medium-boiling fraction (VII) containing (I), (IV) and (V), and (a3) a high-boiling fraction containing (V) and (VI); (b) a mixture (VII) is subjected to distillation, yielding (b1) an overhead which essentially contains (IV) and (b2) a mixture (VIII) containing (I) and (V) as bottom residue; and (c) a mixture (VIII) is subjected to distillation, yielding (c1) (I) as overhead and (c2) a bottom residue which contains the essential part of (V).

    Abstract: Water and ammonia are removed from crude benzophenone-imines obtained by the catalytic reaction of ammonia with benzophenones of formula (I), in which R , R = (a) halogen, hydroxyl, nitro or amino groups, (b) 1-12C linear, branched or cyclic alkyl or alkoxy, optionally substituted with 6-10C aryl, F, Cl or Br, (c) 6-10C aryl or aryloxy, optionally substituted with 1-12C alkyl or alkoxy, (d) heteroalkyl groups comprising alkyl groups as above with in-chain O, S and/or N atom(s), or (e) heteroaryl groups with 5-10 ring atoms containing 1-3 O, S and/or N atoms; m, n = 0-5. The process comprises removing the ammonia by distillation and removing the water by distillation or with a drying agent.
