SOLUTION: In spite of whether a power control parameter updating message is transmitted or not, power control bi is transmitted to a radio terminal 502. The radio terminal 502 receives the transmitted power control signal bi . Then, the radio terminal 502 determines the control step size of a recent power level Pi-1 for generating a power level Pi for a signal Si to be next transmitted by analyzing (n) pieces of power control signals bi-n+1 to b1 received recently. The radio terminal 502 determines the power level Pi-1 to transmit the signal Si . The power level Pi is based on the preceding power level Pi-1 , power control signal bi and step size.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure a channel quality by a signal-to-interference and noise ratio (SIR) by receiving a digital signal, deciding a path measurement reference to the digital signal and performing path measurement reference mapping of the SIR corresponding to a set of prescribed SIRs. SOLUTION: In a differential phase shift keying system of M-th degree, a maximum likelihood decoder 112 selects a path having a minimum cumulative Euclid's distance measurement reference, decodes a corresponding data sequence 132 and outputs it. A dividing device of M-th degree or a mapping circuit 136 maps the sequence 132 to an M-th degree sequence 138 in order to decide SIR measurement reference. After that, a processor 140 calculates weighted Euclid's distance measurement reference mi 142 which is used as a SIR to the i-th frame by using the sequence 132 and a demodulated sequence 110.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a peak-to-average ratio and eventually to relieve output reduction of an amplifier by including an orthogonal modulator circuit and a phase rotation circuit connected to the orthogonal modulator circuit, making the phase rotation circuit rotate the phases of an in-phase signal and an orthogonal signal and generating the in-phase signal undergoing phase rotation and the orthogonal signal undergoing phase rotation. SOLUTION: In a CDMA base station, intentional phase rotation (θk ) is introduced between different Walsh channels about the radio user in a baseband signal. A baseband coding/modulating unit 30 offers in-phase and orthogonal phase signals, they are connected to corresponding multipliers 32 and 34 and the multipliers 32 and 34 are connected to a Walsh code for orthogonal modulation. The multipliers 32 and 34 are connected to multipliers 36 and 38 and multipliers 40 and 42 respectively. Outputs of the multipliers 36 and 38 and inverted outputs/outputs of the multipliers 40 and 42 are connected to adders 44 and 46.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the system and method that measures quality of a channel based on S/N for the purpose of sending a coded signal through a fading channel. SOLUTION: A Viterbi decoder 56 with respect to a maximum likelihood is used for a measure of channel quality. The measure of the Euclid distance is filtered to smooth a short-term fluctuation. The smoothed or filtered measure is a channel quality measure that is consistent with and reliable for different code modulation systems and different mobile speeds. The filtered measure is mapped for the S/N per symbol by using a threshold level method. This tacit S/N estimate is used adaptively for a hand-off and a data rate of mobile aid model in a transmitter.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a data transmitting method which improves channel transmission efficiency and simultaneously realizes scheduling flexibility. SOLUTION: This sub-packet size is adapted to a data rate at which the sub-packet is to be transmitted. The sub-packet size is adapted to the data rate in a format that would allow a sub-packet whose size is adapted to be soft combined with another sub-packet of a same or different size. In one embodiment, the method has a step for encoding the communication path of an encoder packet in order to generate a communication path encoded encoder packet, and a step for dividing and/or repeating the communication path encoded encoder packet in order to generate an encoder sub-packet having the size of the encoder packet and a size based on a data transmission rate to be transmitted.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for currying out an ARQ method using incremental redundancy(IR) where a receiver can relatively quickly recover from an incorrect interpretation in confirmation message transmitted by the receiver. SOLUTION: Information, received by the receiver contains a one-bit new/ continuous flag for indicating whether the reception information is the beginning of new information, or is the continuation (or retransmission) of previously transmitted information. When the information containing the new flag is received, and is successfully decodes, the receiver transmits an ACK message. When the information containing the continuous flag is received during a standby state for receiving the new information, the receiver transmits the ACK message. Using the method, recovery can be made from the incorrect decoding in ACK/NACK messages relatively quickly, and subscribers having different transmission requirements can be accommodated.

The interleaver 414 is connected to the framer 402 and to communication units 404-412 that are normally used for processing user information. The framer 402 groups the user information into information groups and generates copies of each information group, on the basis of system information received by the selector device 416. The interleaver 414 receives the generated information group. The interleaver 414 interleaves generated frames over time blocks, whose number is selected in a communication network, on the basis of the system information that the selector device 416 receives.

That is, if a very large PDU is transmitted in an environment of a high BER(bit error rate), an additional function is supplied in a communication environment. A highly reliable transmission protocol cab use three schemes to fractionize a PDU into small logical transmission units.
