Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare polyesters, excellent in brightness, transparency and yarn- making workability, by reacting terephthalic acid with ethylene glycol to a specified degree of esterification reaction and adding Ca compounds and P compounds. CONSTITUTION:Glycols composed primarily of ethylene glycol and dicarboxylic acids composed primarily of terephtalic acid, in a mol ratio of 1.05-1.5, are esterified to 95-99% esterification at gauge pres. and at 200-260 deg.C, and after 70-300ppm (as Ca) of Ca compounds such as calcium acetate are added, 5-60ppm (as P) of P compounds such as phosphoric acid or trimethyl phosphate are added over 3-30min, to complete polycondensation.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester capable of giving fibers having improved brightness, transparency, and drawing property, by reacting terephthalic acid containing 4- carboxy-benzaldehyde with a glycol in the presence of a Ca, Mn, or P compound. CONSTITUTION:(A) A dicarboxylic acid with a 4-carboxybenzaldehyde content .G, and a temperature of 220-250 deg.C to give an esterification degree >=95%. The ester is then in corporated with (C) a Ca compound, preferably calcium acetate, (D) a Mn compound, preferably manganese acetate, and (E) a P compound, preferably phosphoric acid in a proportion to satisfy formula I-IV: [Ca, Mn, and P are the amounts (ppm) of the atoms added, respectively].

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject polymer in high yield and productivity by polymerizing trioxane and a cyclic ether with a reactor provided with a pair of parallel stirring shafts and having a cross-section consisting of overlapped circles having different centers and containing plate paddle in the reactor and extruding the polymerization product from the lower face of the stirring shaft. CONSTITUTION:A jacket 3 for temperature control is placed on the outer circumference of the cylinder of a reactor having a cross-section consisting of over- lapped circles having different centers. The reactor is provided with a raw material feeding port 4 and a product delivery port 5 at both ends and contains a pair of parallel stirring shafts 1 and plural plate paddles 2 attached to the shafts. The cross-section of the paddle 2 perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the stirring shaft 1 is convex lens form, elliptic form or a pseudopolygonal form inscribed to a virtual circle on each apex. The paddle 2 keeps a narrow clearance between the inner wall of the cylinder and the opposite paddle and rotates in the same direction. Trioxane, a cyclic ether and a catalyst are supplied to a continuous stirring reactor having the above construction and the obtained polymer is delivered from the outlet port 5 opened under one of the stirring shafts in granular form to obtain the objective polymer.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polyester which is suitable for blended yarn fabric with cotton, useful as clothes and working clothes and has improved flame retardance and feeling, by blending polyester with a specific phosphorus compound and a metallic compound of Mg, Li or Ca. CONSTITUTION:(A) A raw material component having a repeating constituent unit comprising >=70mol% ethylene terephthalate is reacted and, at the early stage of polymerization, (B) 0.8-3.0wt% based on the component A of a phosphorus compound [e.g. (2-carboxyethyl)methylphosphinic acid, etc.] shown by formula I[R1 and R2 are H, 1-18C alkyl, etc.; R3 is aryl, etc.; A is (CnH2n) and n is 1-4] and (C) one or more metallic compounds of Mg, Li and Ca are added to the component A in such a way that correlation shown by formula II(P is amount of the component B added based on acid component; M is amount of the metallic element added based on the acid component) is satisfied and polycondensation is carried out to give the aimed polyester.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a polyester giving a molded article having high gloss and transparency, by esterifying terephthalic acid with ethylene glycol, adding a glycol-soluble salt of Ca, etc. to the product, and polymerizing the mixture in a reactor in the presence of an acidic compound, etc. CONSTITUTION:Terephthalic acid is esterified with ethylene glycol, and the product is further esterified. A glycol-soluble salt of Ca and/or Li is added (preferably in the form of solution or slurry in glycol, etc.) to the reaction product, and the mixture is subjected to the polymerization reaction in the subsequent reactor adding an acidic or alkaline compound (e.g. hydrochloric acid, sodium carbonate, etc.) or its aqueous solution, and if necessary a polycondensation catalyst, a pigment, etc. to the reactor.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a polyester excellent in brightness, transparency and processability during molding, by adding glycol-soluble Ca and/or Li salts and a P compound to a reaction system lying under specifed conditions and reacting the mixture. CONSTITUTION:A slurry containing terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol as the principal starting materials at a predetermind molar ratio is fed continuously to the 1st reaction tank 1, esterified, withdrawn by a transfer pump 2 so that the quantity of the solution held in the tank 1 can be kept constant, led to the 2nd reaction tank 3, esterified and then transferred to a catalyst addition tank 4. While agitating the reaction solution so that the Reynolds number in the tank 4 is below 3,500 under conditions in which the concentration of the terminal carboxyl groups of the reaction solution and its average residence time in the tank 4 satisfy the formula, 0.015-0.20wt% glycol-soluble Ca and/or Li salts, 0.003-0.05wt% P compound and a polymerization catalyst are added to the solution. The polycondensation of the reaction mixture is allowed to advance under a weak vacuum in a prepolymerizer 6 and polycondensed to completion in a polymerizer 7.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject copolymer having high strength, heat-resistance and polymerization degree in an extremely short time in high yield by mixing and reacting a cyclic ether with a part of a polymerization catalyst such as BF3, adding the remaining part of the polymerization catalyst and trioxane to the reaction product and carrying out bulk-polymerization. CONSTITUTION:The objective copolymer is produced by the bulk-polymerization of trioxane and a cyclic ether in the presence of a polymerization catalyst such as boron trifluoride (BF3), hydrated BF3 and a coordination compound of BF3 and an organic compound containing oxygen atom or sulfur atom. The polymerization is carried out by preliminarily mixing the cyclic ether supplied from a pipe 2 with a part of the polymerization catalyst supplied from a pipe 1 before charging to a polymerizer 5, reacting the components within 0.1-10 min, reacting the reaction product with trioxane supplied from a pipe 3 in the polymerizer 5 in the presence of the polymerization catalyst separately supplied from a pipe 1' and extruding the produced polymer from the outlet 6 of the polymerizer 5 with a screw 10.
