    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce a doming of shadow mask and prevent a color discrepancy or color unevenness, by furnishing an electron absorbing layer of a specific material at the electron gun side of the shadow mask, and a low electroconductive layer over the surface of the electron absorving layer. CONSTITUTION:At the electron gun 6 side of a shadow mask 7 furnished close to a fluorescent screen 4, is formed an electron absorbing layer including one or more of BN and Si3N4 (a crystalline lead borate glass layer, for example). And over the surface of the electron absorbing layer, is formed a low electroconductive layer which is practically electron permeable (a getter membrane, for example). Moreover, the volume resistance of the electron absorbing layer is made more than 10 OMEGA.m, and the low conductive layer is formed of a layer of 1 to 100mug/cm thickness consisting mainly of Ba. In such a structure, a doming of the shadow mask 7 is reduced effectively, and the color purity deterioration such as a color discrepancy and a color unevenness can be improved.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a cathode-ray tube having a glass panel excellent in mechanical strength by providing the specific relations in the thickness of glass among the vertical axis direction, horizontal axis direction and diagonal axis direction near the substantially rectangular frame of the glass panel face part. CONSTITUTION:The thickness tv, tH and tD near the rectangular frame in the respective directions of the face part are constituted so as to have the relations tv>=tH and tD>=tH. In order to constitute the thickness near the rectangular frame in the respective axial directions of the face part in this way, it is effective to make the outer surface radiuses of curvature Rv, RH and RD as well as the inner surface radiuses of curvature R'v, R'H and R'D in the respective axial directions of the face part, X in such relations as Rv =RH further RD>=RH and R'v>=R'H>= R'D. Thereby, since the thickness of the upper end in the screen vertical axils direction, in which mechanical expansion stress due to the atmospheric pressure becomes maximum, is formed sufficiently large, sharply improved mechanical strength can be obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of Moire fringes in a state that sufficient luminance remains held by scanning an electronic beam at a speed of two folds of an image sending side, when a television image is received, and shifting a position of a scanning line of a first field and a scanning line of a second field by 1/2 of a scanning line interval of each field. CONSTITUTION:A first field and a second field are constituted of 262.5 pieces of scanning lines, respectively, and they are scanned without being superposed to each other, and as a result, the total number of scanning lines becomes 525 pieces. Scanning of 525 pieces is executed during 1/60 second in which a first field is sent, and scanning of 525 pieces is executed by shifting it a little during the next 1/60 second in which a second field is sent. As a result, the total number of scanning lines becomes 1050 pieces of two folds. Scanning of two folds of an image sending side is executed by each field, and as for an image signal corresponding thereto, it is allowable to apply the same signal to two pieces of continuous scanning lines, and also, it is allowable to apply it by synthesizing it with a signal of a field before one or more by using an image memory device.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To conduct easy handling of a mask mainframe and automate application forming of a material layer by applying slurry for forming the material layer, after welding a mask frame to the mask mainframe to form the material layer. CONSTITUTION:A skirt portion 46 and a mask frame 31 which are formed along the periphery of a mask mainframe 30 are welded to each other at four corners. The welded mask 32 with the mainframe 30 laid thereon is placed at a preset position on a conveyer 33 and supported at both longitudinal sides by an inverting device. Next, the mask 32 is turned 180 deg. so that the back of the mask mainframe 30 can be upward, to attach a cover 47 to the frame 31. Then, the mask 32 is carried in the direction of an application position via the conveyer 33. Spraying is performed by reciprocating a spray gun 43 along a guide axis 42 in the direction orthogonal to the the moving direction of the mask 32, while moving the mask 32 in the direction of an arrow mark 35 via the conveyer 33.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress the breakage of a glass envelope without extending the production time by controlling the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the glass envelope during the production process to 100 deg.C or below at maximum in the low-temperature region with strong breaking strength. CONSTITUTION:An in-line type color picture tube device is heated to 350-450 deg.C at maximum during the sealing process in which a panel 10 and a funnel 11 are melted and connected at a high temperature and the exhausting process in which the interior of a glass envelope is exhausted to high vacuum at a high temperature after the neck section 4 of an electron gun structure 15 is sealed. The temperature rise speed for 5 min from the start is set to about 25 deg.C/min, the temperature rise speed for 30min thereafter is reduced to about 7.5 deg.C/min, and the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the glass envelope can be made 100 deg.C or below at the internal temperature 100 deg.C or below. The breakage of the glass envelope caused during heat treat ment can be reduced without extending the work time.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce shift of the electron beam landing due to external magnetic field by furnishing a magnetic resistance part between a mask frame and the body of a shadow mask mating with the neighborhood of the rectangular panel corners. CONSTITUTION:A gap 35 is furnished between a mask frame 32 and a mask body 31 inside the same and allowed to maximize at the diagonal end part, and the mask body 31 is supported through a magnetic resistance member 36 arranged at this diagonal end part. According to this constitution the external magnetic field in the tube axial direction collected by an internal magnetism shelter 7 and/or the mask frame 32 will scarcely be transmitted to the mask body 31 in the part of panel 10 mating with the neighborhood of the corner, but be radiated in the direction of a fluorescent screen 11 from the screen end of the mask frame 32, and the magnetic field intensity of the mask body 31 with the fluorescent screen 11 can be made substantially uniform at the ends of horizontal axis, at the ends of vertical axis, and at diagonal end parts.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To decrease deflecting aberration so as to prevent deterioration of focusing properties in the periphery of a picture by placing permanent magnets on the way of three electron beam routes. CONSTITUTION:While their polarity being set to be in reverse, a pair of permanent magnets 28a, 28b having magnetic polar in the both ends are placed up and down-sides of a side end 27 of an electron gun composing body of a deflecting apparatus 21. By setting like this, the magnets 28a, 28b, corresponding to a barrel type perpendicularly deflecting magnetic field 42, form an intensive pin cushion type magnetic field 43 in an area three electron beams (B), (G), (R) passing. Formation of an ellipse having the major axis in horizontal direction of a beam spot depending on the magnetic field 42 and declining phenomenon of spots of a pair of side beams are corrected. Besides, correction corresponding to deflecting current of an apparatus is carried out by a magnetic field correcting device installed in the bottom of a convergence cup. Lorentz effect of moving side beams (B), (R) toward center beam (G) is caused by the magnetic field 43.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable the preliminary detection of the vibration resistance strength of a shadow mask by applying an alternate current magnetic field for excitation between processes for forming a mask proper and jointing a panel to a funnel. CONSTITUTION:A shadow mask 4 is mounted at an inspection position and an alternate current exciting current is supplied to an excitation coil 31. The frequency of a magnetic field is thereby varied continuously within a range of 200 to 500Hz and the vibration of each part of the mask 4 is detected via an optical sensor 33. Furthermore, a detected signal obtained from the sensor 33 is operated and processed with an amplitude read device 34, thereby obtaining the maximum amplitude of the mask 4. As the resonance frequency of the shadow mask 4 proper approximately agrees to the frequency wherein an electron beam in a finished color image receiving tube gives a maximum amplitude, the aforesaid method is used to detect and select a resonance point for the case of the mask 4 proper and it becomes thereby possible to eliminate the malfunction of the finished image receiving tube due to a vibration. According to this construction, a loss due to the detection of a defective product after assembly is eliminated and it becomes possible to make efficient inspection.
