Abstract: PURPOSE: A composition containing dried powder of sand lance fraction or its extract is provided to suppress pain using an animal model by inducing acetic acid pain test, heat plate and tail flick test. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating pain contains dried powder or its extract of sand lance fraction as an active ingredient. The extract of sand lance fraction is obtained by heating the sand lance fraction at 60°C-150°C for 12 to 48 hours. The pain is the headache, toothache, backache, burn ache, neuralgia, period pains or arthralgia. The pharmaceutical composition contains 0.1-50 weight% of the dried powder or its extract based on the total weight.
