PURPOSE: A stride estimating device and a method thereof are provided to easily estimate different strides by using various sensors, thereby enabling to estimate travelling time and to grasp a travelling path. CONSTITUTION: A stride estimating device comprises a vibration detecting sensor(130), a rotation detecting sensor(140), a database unit(180), a travelling distance measuring unit(160), a step number calculation module, a stride estimation module(170), and a control unit(150). The vibration detecting sensor detects vibration information based on a walk of a user. The rotation detecting sensor detects rotation information based on the walk of the user. The database unit stores geographic information. The travelling distance measuring unit measures a travelling distance of the user by using the geographic information and the rotation information. The step number calculation module calculates the number of the steps of the user. The stride estimation module estimates stride of the user by using the calculated the number of the steps and the measured travelling distance. Abstract:
The present invention discloses an apparatus for estimating a pedestrian direction by using pattern recognition and a method for estimating a direction by using this apparatus. An embodiment of the present invention includes a database that stores behavior pattern information for user behavior pattern determination and direction pattern information for estimating a user movement direction; a sensor unit that senses acceleration information, three-axis terrestrial magnetism information, and rotation information from a behavior of the moving user; a behavior pattern determination unit that determines one behavior pattern corresponding to the behavior of the moving user in the behavior pattern information stored in the database based on the sensing result; and a direction estimation unit that estimates the user movement direction by comparing the three-axis terrestrial magnetism information and the rotation information with respect to the determined behavior pattern to the direction pattern information stored in the database.
