    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the load of a water supply system and to decrease laminar film resistance by discharging exhaust gas in the vicinity of an interface between a gas separation membrane and water, and utilizing the movement of the bubbles generated at this time. CONSTITUTION:A hollow yarn-based gas separation membrane 3 is fixed in the housing 1 of the device for recovering oxygen dissolved in water by means of the upper and lower fixing layer 2 consisting of an adhesive. The exhaust gas used in combustion, respiration, etc., is discharged through a diffusion plate 5, and sent up as bubbles 10 in a passage 8 between membranes while accompanying and circulating the water from an outlet 4. The laminar film resistance on the surface of the gas separation membrane 3 is simultaneously removed, and the exhaust gas is discharged from an outlet 9 along with the water 12. Meantime, the oxygen and other gases dissolved in water is passed through the gas separation membrane 3, recovered, and discharged from a line 7. By this method, the device can be miniaturized, and energy can be saved.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:The titled novel polymer suitable as light shading material, tempera ture sensor, etc., water-soluble in a low temperature range but becoming water- insoluble under heating, obtained by copolymerizing N-(meth)acry loylbenzhydrazide with a specific vinyl compound. CONSTITUTION:(A) An N-(meth)acryloylbenzhydrazide shown by formula I (R1 is H or CH3) is copolymerized with (B) a vinyl compound which has struc ture shown by formula II (R1 is H or CH3; R2 and R3 are H, alkyl, etc.) and provides a homopolymer whose aqueous solution shows heat reversible properties and, if necessary, (C) another copolymerizable vinyl compound preferably by solution polymerization method to give the aimed polymer consisting of a hydrophilic-hydrophobic thermally reversible copolymer which becomes water- insoluble under heating and has copper chelating ability.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To separate and recover alcohol with a high permeation speed by permeating a mixed solution of water and alcohol into the composite membrane comprising polysiloxane filled in the micro pores of porous high-molecular membrane. CONSTITUTION:Liquid polydimethylsiloxane is dropped and stretched on a porous high-molecular membrane, a polypropylene porous membrane and the like, and the said polydimethylsiloxane is permeated into the micro pores of porous membrane. The surplus polydimethylsiloxane remaining on the surface of membrane is wiped out by tissue papers and the like to prepare a composite membrane filled with polydimethylsiloxane. Pervaporation is carried out by utilizing the said composite membrane and a mixed solution of water and alcohol as supplying liquid to permeate alcohol preferentially and separate.

USE:A raw material monomer for a hydrophilic-hydrophobic thermoplastic high polymer compound useful as a sunproofing material, temperature sensor, tool, interior, printing agent, display, separating membrane, mechanochemical element material, etc., showing different transition temperatures. A colorless, transparent liquid, soluble in a solvent such as water, methanol, dimethylformamide, acetone, dioxane, etc., subjected to phase separation h-hexane or n-heptane. A prepared polymer is dissolved in water in a low-temperature range and insoluble in water in a high-temperature range. PREPARATION:For example, (meth)acrylic acid chloride shown by the formula II is reacted with 2-ethoxyethylamine shown by the formula III and triethylamine shown by the formula IV preferably at 0-10 deg.C, to give a compound shown by the formula I.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a thermally reversible hydrophilic and hydrophobic polymer having a transition temperature different from that of a conventional thermally reversible polyacrylamide derivative and useful for a light screen for a greenhouse or a chemical laboratory, a temperature sensor, a display, etc., by radical- polymerizing a specified vinyl compound. CONSTITUTION:A vinyl compound of formula I (wherein R1 is H or methyl and R2 is a lower alkyl) is radical-polymerized to obtain a thermally reversible hydrophilic and hydrophobic polymer of formula II (wherein R1 and R2 are as defined above). This polymer has such a thermal reversibility of high- temperature hydrophobicity type that it can dissolve in water in a low- temperature range and can not dissolve in water in a high-temperature range. Although the transition temperature of the polymer varies with polymerization conditions, for example, that of poly(N-methoxypropylacrylamide) is 44-48 deg.C in a 1wt%-aqueous solution. Said polymerization is carried out preferably by a solution polymerization process. It is preferable that the degree of polymerization is 0.01-6.0 in terms of an intrinsic viscosity [eta] (as measured in a methanol solution at 30 deg.C).

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To selectively concentrate a trace constituent contained in water or a gas and feed it to an analyzer. CONSTITUTION: A hollow fiber 2 made of a polymer material is stored in a container 3 capable of being connected to external pipes at both ends. This sample concentrating device is provided with a gas selecting means 1 having a heater 8 controlling the temperature of the hollow fiber 2, a pump 20 feeding a concentrated fluid to the container 3, and a condenser 12 connected to the hollow fiber 2. When the wall face of the hollow fiber 2 is a molecular sieve having chemical affinity or the hollow fiber 2 is porous, fine holes serve as a sieve. When a fluid transmits the bulkhead of the hollow fiber 2, impurities are adsorbed by the hollow fiber 2 and cannot pass through it, and only the aimed constituent passes through it and is adsorbed by the condenser 12 and concentrated. Such sieve function depends on the temperature of the hollow fiber 2. When the temperature of the hollow fiber 2 is controlled, an object constituent can be selected, and the permeability can be controlled with good reproducibility.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To selectively transmit and remove odoriferous matter in water by forming a composite separation membrane by providing a layer made highly hydrophobic by plasma surface treatment to a sponge like porous surface layer having a specific mean pore size and a specific membrane surface void ratio. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a sponge like porous membrane constituted of a polymer hardly swellable in water such as polypropylene or polysulfone and having a mean pore size of 1-0.01mum and a membrane surface void ratio of 30-60% is subjected to low temp. plasma surface treatment. As a result, a polymer separation membrane containing fluorine atoms in the surface of its porous membrane in the number same to or more than the number of carbon atoms and having a highly hydrophobic layer formed thereto is obtained. Pervaporation is adapted using this polymer separation membrane to absorb and remove not only odoriferous matter being an object of legal prescription but also various amines or org. solvents dissolved in water.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase the overall separation factor by providing a membrane separator for conducting a countercurrent operation between passages, furnishing a raw liq. input port at the midway of one passage and using the other passage as a passage for a liq. reflux. CONSTITUTION:The raw liq. inputted from a raw liq. input port 7 is introduced into a high-concn. side of a dialysis membrane column 2B, and introduced into the high-concn. side of the column 28 from the bottom on the low-concn. side. A pure solvent is supplied from the bottom on the low-concn. side. Consequently, the solute having a high permeability coefficient is selectively transferred to the low-concn. side in the column 2B. The soln. on the low-concn. side flows upward into a column 2A, the liq. concentrate is circulated, and the solute is selectively separated also in the column 2A. The solute having a high permeability coefficient in the output liq. from the top outlet 16, and the solute having a low permeability coefficient is concentrated from the output 17 at the bottom.
