Abstract: Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes receiving a downlink signal comprising an uplink access configuration index, using the uplink access configuration index to identify an uplink access configuration from among a predetermined plurality of uplink access configurations, and transmitting to the wireless communications network according to the identified uplink access configuration. The example method further includes, in the same wireless device, receiving, in a first downlink subframe, a first Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM) transmission formatted according to a first numerology and receiving, in a second downlink subframe, a second OFDM transmission formatted according to a second numerology, the second numerology differing from the first numerology, where the first numerology has a first subcarrier spacing and the second numerology has a second subcarrier spacing, the first subcarrier spacing differing from the second subcarrier spacing. Variants of this method, corresponding apparatuses, and corresponding network-side methods and apparatuses are also disclosed.

Abstract: A base station initializes pseudo-random sequence generators on which wireless devices base generation of uplink reference signals. The base station determines (100) a first sequence from a first subset of possible initialization sequences for a sequence generator of a first device, and determines (110) a second sequence from a second subset of possible initialization sequences for a sequence generator of a second device. The range of this second subset spans at least the range of the first subset. The base station further encode (120) the first sequence as a first set of two or more parameters, and encodes (130) the second sequence as a second set of one or more parameters. This second set includes at least one parameter not included in the first set, and comprises fewer bits than the first set. The base station initializes (140) the sequence generators by transmitting the first and second sets of parameters to the devices.

Abstract: A method and localization unit for localizing load coils within a transmission line. The load coil localization is achieved using a measurement of a Single-Ended Line Testing (SELT) parameter for the transmission line and an approximation of the SELT parameter obtained from a model of the transmission line. The model is based on a parameter vector &thetas; including parameters describing the transmission properties of each load coil and cable section and the length of a plurality of individual cable sections as unknown independent parameters. The location of at least one load coil is determined by substantially minimizing a criterion function that represents a deviation between the measurement of the SELT parameter and the approximation of the SELT parameter obtained from the model. The load coil localization method and unit can be used for both symmetric and asymmetric transmission lines.

The line length (L) is generated as L=½.vop/FD 1 , in which vop is the velocity of propagation of a signal on the line. The attenuation is estimated by multiplying the line length with an average attenuation value for the actual line type. The advantages are that the line length can be estimated with good accuracy in a simple manner for short lines and that the line attenuation is estimated in a simple manner.
