Abstract: The invention relates to a process for separating off maleic anhydride from a gas stream comprising maleic anhydride, in which a) the gas stream comprising maleic anhydride is brought into contact with a liquid absorbent phase comprising at least one high-boiling inert absorption medium for maleic anhydride and b) maleic anhydride is separated off from the resulting liquid absorbate phase by stripping with a hydrogen-comprising gas as stripping medium in a column, wherein the stripping medium is fed in at two points on the column which are at least one theoretical plate apart.

Abstract: Procedimiento para la obtención simultánea de THF, en caso dado substituido por alquilo, y pirrolidonas mediante hidrogenación catalítica de ácidos dicarboxílicos con 4 átomos de carbono y/o sus derivados en fase gaseosa en presencia de catalizadores que contienen cobre y conversión de la GBL con amoníaco o con aminas primarias para dar pirrolidonas, caracterizado porque a) se hidrogenan ácidos dicarboxílicos con 4 átomos de carbono y/o sus derivados en fase gaseosa a 200 hasta 300ºC, a 0, 1 hasta 100 bares, con cargas del catalizador desde 0, 01 hasta 1 kg de educto/l de catalizador * hora y con proporciones en moles entre educto/hidrógeno de 20 hasta 800 en presencia de catalizadores soportados, que contienen 30 % en peso de material de soporte, elegido entre óxido de aluminio u óxido de aluminio y óxido de cinc, para dar mezclas constituidas por THF y GBL, b) la descarga de la hidrogenación obtenida se separa, mediante destilación, en una mezcla de THF/agua como producto de cabeza y un producto de cola que contiene la GBL, c) la mezcla de THF/agua, procedente de la etapa b), se separa en una instalación de destilación constituida por tres columnas, separándose agua de la cola de la primera columna, reciclándose THF acuoso desde la segunda columna hasta la primera columna, conduciéndose una corriente lateral desde la primera columna hasta la segunda columna, reciclándose el producto de cola desde la tercera columna hasta la primera columna, retirándose por la cabeza de la primera columna un destilado, conduciéndose una descarga lateral desde la segunda columna hasta la tercera columna y obteniéndose el THF puro como producto de cabeza en la tercera columna, d) el producto de cola procedente de la etapa b), que contiene la GBL, se hace reaccionar con amoníaco o con aminas para dar las pirrolidonas correspondientes.

Abstract: Crude water-containing tetrahydrofuran is purified by passing the crude tetrahydrofuran through three distillation columns, withdrawing water from the bottom of the first column, recycling water-containing tetrahydrofuran from the top of the second column into the first column, passing a sidestream of the first column into the second column, recycling the bottom product of the third column into the first column, and withdrawing a distillate at the top of the first column. Additionally, a sidestream of the second column is passed into the third column and the purified tetrahydrofuran is recovered as the top product of the third column.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing optionally alkyl-substituted 1,4-butanediol by two-stage catalytic hydrogenation in the gas phase of C 4 -dicarboxylic acids and/or of derivatives thereof having the following steps: a) introducing a gas stream of a C 4 -dicarboxylic acid or of a derivative thereof at from 200 to 300° C. and from 2 to 60 bar into a first reactor and catalytically hydrogenating it to a product which contains mainly optionally alkyl-substituted gamma-butyrolactone; b) converting the product stream into the liquid phase; c) introducing the product stream obtained in this way into a second reactor at a temperature of from 100° C. to 240° C. and a pressure of from 20 to 250 bar and catalytically hydrogenating it in the liquid phase to optionally alkyl-substituted 1,4-butanediol; d) removing the desired product from by-products and any unconverted reactants; e) optionally recycling unconverted intermediates into one or both hydrogenation stages, said hydrogenation stages both using a catalyst which comprises =5% by weight, preferably from 5 to 95% by weight, in particular from 20 to 90% by weight, of a support, said second reactor having a higher pressure than said first reactor, and the product mixture removed from said first reactor being introduced without further purification into said second reactor.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing optionally akyl-substituted 1,4-butandiol by two-stage catalytic hydration in the gaseous phase of C4 dicarboxylic acids and/or the derivatives thereof with the steps of: a) introducing a gaseous flow of a C4 dicarboxylic acid or a derivative thereof at 200 to 300 °C and 2 to 60 bar in a first reactor and catalytic gas phase hydration to a mainly optionally alkyl-substituted gamma-butyrolactone containing product; b) introducing the product flow so obtained into a second reactor at a temperature of from 150 °C to 240 °C and a pressure of from 15 to 100 bar and catalytic gas phase hydration to optionally alkyl-substituted 1,4-butandiol; c) removing the desired product from the intermediates, byproducts and possibly not reacted educt; d) optionally returning non-reacted intermediates to one or both hydration stages, whereby in both hydration stages one catalyst each is used which comprises = 5 % by weight, preferably 5 to 95 % by weight, especially 20 to 90 % by weight of an oxidic carrier, the pressure prevailing in the second reactor is higher than in the first reactor, and the product mixture removed from the first reactor is introduced into the second reactor without further purifying it.
