    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the equipment cost by carrying out an aging reaction and partial removal of an unreacted higher alcohol at the same time and reducing load on a process for thorough distillation of the unreacted higher alcohol. CONSTITUTION:In production of an alkylglycoside using a sugar and a higher alcohol, the sugar is initially reacted with the higher alcohol in the presence of an acid catalyst. An aging reaction is then carried out using a thin membrane reactor, etc., and unreacted higher alcohol is simultaneously distilled off from the reaction mixture till 30-60wt.% concentration of the higher alcohol.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To readily and continuously obtain the subject compound with a high selectivity in a high yield while making the residence time short by carrying out a reaction between an aliphatic alcohol and polyphosphoric acid in a hydrocarbon-based solvent in a tubular reactor. The crystallized substance is subjected to solid-liquid separation to give a crystallized sucrose fatty acid ester having high [SME] content and a sucrose fatty acid esters having high [SDE] and [SPE] contents.
