Abstract: PURPOSE: A hollow rack bar by friction welding is provided to facilitate to manufacture by combining a hollow unit and a chisel unit by friction welding and to reduce weight by forming a hollow inside a shaft unit. CONSTITUTION: A hollow rack bar by friction welding comprises a shaft unit(10) and a chisel unit(20). The shaft unit is made of hollow metallic pipes. The chisel unit is combined one or both ends of the shaft unit and is shaped into a solid bar. The shaft unit and chisel unit are made of different kinds of metal and are combined by friction welding through rotation.
