    Abstract: Producing alkoxylates involves contacting one or more alkylene oxides selected from ethylene, propylene, butylene, pentylene and decene oxides with a starter compound in the presence of a binary metal cyanide compound (I) and performing the reaction at 130-155 degreesC. M1 = Zn2+, Fe2+, Fe3+, Co3+, Ni2+, Mn2+, Co2+, Sn2+, Pb2+, Mo4+, Mo6+, Al3+, V4+, V5+, Sr2+, W4+, W6+, Cr2+, Cr3+, Cd2+, Hg2+, Pd2+, Pt2+, V2+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Ba2+, Cu2+, La3+, Ce3+, Ce4+, Eu3+, Ti3+, Ti4+, Ag+, Rh2+, Rh3+, Ru2+ or Ru3+; M2 = Fe2+, Fe3+, Co3+, Mn2+, Mn3+, V4+, V5+, Cr2+, Cr3+, Rh3+, Ru2+ or Ir3+; A, X = halide, hydroxide, sulfate, carbonate, cyanide, thiocyanate, isocyanate, cyanate, carboxylate, oxalate, nitrate, nitrosyl, bisulfate, phosphate, (di)hydrogen phosphate or bicarbonate; L = a water-soluble alcohol, aldehyde, ketone, ether, polyether, ester, polyester, polycarbonate, urea, amide, amine, pyridine, nitrile, sulfide, phosphide, phosphite, phosphine, phosphonate or phosphate ligand; k, e, f, h = 0 or more; P' = an organic additive; and a, b, c, d, g, n = numbers so that (I) is electrically neutral and c can be zero. An Independent claim is also included for an alkoxylate produced by the novel method.

A process for preparation of polyetherols includes reaction of at least one alkylene oxide with at least one starter compound in the presence of a catalyst, i.e. a multimetal oxide compound of formula (I). M1p(M2qOn(OH)2(3-n))x (I) M1 = at least 1 element from the groups IA, IIA, IIIA, IVA, VA, IB, IIB, IIIB, IVB, VB, VIB, VIIB and/or VIIIB; M2 = at least one element from groups IVA, VA and/or VIA, n = 2 or 3, p = 0 or fractional or whole number greater than 0, q = fractional or whole number greater than 0, x = 1-20 fractional or whole number. An Independent claim is included for a polyetherol obtained as above.

    Abstract: Composition (A) contains at least one alkoxylated 6-18C alkanol (I). Composition (A) contains at least one alkoxylated 6-18C alkanol of formula RO-(A)n-(B)m-H (I). R = 6-18C linear or branched alkyl; A = propyleneoxy (PO); B = ethyleneoxy (EO) or a mixture of EO and PO; n = integer or fractional number of 0-5; and m = integer or fractional number of 0-20. When R is C5H11CH(C3H7)CH2-, n is less than 1, provided that R is a mixture where 70-99 %, by weight of C5H11 is linear and 1-30 %, by weight is EtCH(Me)CH2 and/or MeCH(Me)CH-2CH2. An Independent claim is also included for a method for preparing (I) by reacting ROH with propylene and ethylene oxides.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing high−molecular aliphatic polycarbonates having the following properties: the average molecular weight M w ranges from 30,000 to 1,000,000, and; the content of cyclic carbonates and polyethers equals, in total, a maximum of 5 wt. %. Said polycarbonates are produced by polymerizing carbon dioxide with at least one epoxide while using at least one catalyst selected from the group consisting of zinc carboxylates and multi−metal cyanide compounds. The invention is characterized in that the catalyst is introduced in anhydrous form, and the catalyst is firstly brought into contact with at least a partial quantity of the carbon dioxide before the epoxide is added.
