Abstract: Alkali metal ions are separated off from alkoxylates containing alkali metal ions by a process comprising:a) dilution of the alkali metal-containing alkoxylate with an inert solvent,b) treatment of the alkali metal-containing solution of the alkoxylate with a cationic exchanger in order to obtain a substantially alkali metal-free solution of the alkoxylate, andc) removal of the solvent from the substantially alkali metal-free solution of the alkoxylate in order to obtain a substantially alkali metal-free and substantially solvent-free alkoxylate.

Abstract: Alkali metal and alkaline earth metal salts of acyloxybenzenesulfonic acids of the formula I where R is a saturated or unsaturated alkyl radical of 1 to 17 carbon atoms or is phenyl which is unsubstituted or monosubstituted or disubstituted by alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, halogen, methoxy or nitro, are prepared by neutralization, by a method in which a liquid acyloxybenzenesulfonic acid of the formula I and an aqueous solution of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal hydroxide, carbonate or bicarbonate are combined in water, at from 0 to 60.degree.C and while mixing thoroughly, so that the pH is kept at from 2.5 to 7.0, and, if desired, the resulting salt is isolated from the aqueous solution in a conventional manner.

Abstract: Procedimiento para separar iones metálico alcalinos de alcoxilados que contienen iones metálico alcalinos, que comprende: a) dilución del alcoxilado que contiene metal alcalino con un solvente inerte, b) tratamiento de la solución de alcoxilado que contiene metal alcalino con cambiador de cationes, para obtener una solución que contenga menos de 5 ppm de iones metálico alcalino, c) eliminación del solvente de la solución esencialmente libre de metal alcalino, para obtener un alcoxilado que contenga menos de 5 ppm de iones metálico alcalinos y menos de 1 000 ppm de solvente, siendo el procedimiento uno que comprende una regeneración del cambiador de cationes que consta de las siguientes etapas: d1) eliminación de la solución de alcoxilado a partir del cambiador de cationes y elución del cambiador de cationes con un solvente inerte, d2) elución, si es necesario, del cambiador de cationes con agua desmineralizada, d3) regeneración de la resina cambiadora de cationes con un ácido, d4) relavadode la resina cambiadora de cationes con agua desmineralizada, d5) elución del agua que se encuentra en la resina cambiadora de iones con un solvente inerte, y d6) si es necesario, cargar el cambiador de cationes con el solvente inerte deseado para el tratamiento con el cambiador de cationes, eliminando en la etapa d1) la solución de alcoxilado del cambiador de cationes, presionándolo con un gas inerte.

Date Oct. 28, 1993The preparation of alkyl glycosides by reaction of aqueous glycoses having a water content of 10-80% by weight with aliphatic primary alcohols having from 5 to 30 C atoms is described, in which (a) the alcohols and the glycoses are employed in a molar ratio of 2:1 to 10:1, (b) 0.1-5% by weight, based on the amount of the glycoses employed, of the acidic form of an anionic surfactant is used as the acidic catalyst having emulsifying properties, (c) 1-30% by weight, based on the amount of the glycoses employed, of alkyl glycosides is used as a further emulsifier, (d) the aqueous glycose is preheated to 50 DEG -90 DEG C. and the preheated aqueous solution of the glycose is metered with effective mixing into the reaction mixture of alcohol, acidic catalyst and emulsifier in such a manner that an emulsion is formed, (e) the reaction is carried out at from 100 DEG to 150 DEG C. and from 10 to 100 mbar, the water introduced into the reaction mixture and the water formed by the reaction being continuously removed by distillation, (f) after the reaction has ended, the acidic catalyst is neutralized by addition of a base such that the resulting mixture has a pH of 8-10, then (g) the excess alcohol is removed by distillation at from 0.01 to 10 mbar down to a residual content of less than 5% by weight, based on the amount of alkyl glycoside present, and (h) the reaction mixture is bleached at pH 8-10 after conversion into an aqueous paste having a content of from 30 to 70% by weight of alkyl glycoside using a compound eliminating active oxygen.
