    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide an attachable and detachable tape hub tensioning means by centering the hub on the means with high accuracy eve when winding a tape at a high speed with a simple structure and simultaneously press engaging the hub axially without difficulty. CONSTITUTION: The hub tensioning means has a common dealing means for locking winding element with an inner cylindrical cavity in a winding shaft. The hub 1 is uniformly distributed on a periphery along bores 2, 2' in a circumferential direction, and has notches 3, 3' alternately axially directed in one and the other, and finished at an oblique step 4 staring near a geometrical center 5 of the hub, a spring mounted tensioning element mutually operated with the notches 3, 3' of the hub 1 is provided on a periphery of the element, and the element has a radial protrusion to lock with the notches 3, 3' in an axial direction.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To simply, effectively press a hub to a winding element and to accurately hold a tensioning means by providing a plurality of elastic elements uniformly distributed on a periphery over an inner periphery of the hub, and forming the element in a shape of a bent arm. CONSTITUTION: The hub 1 has an outer part having a cylindrical surface 12 for winding a magnetic tape, an inner cylindrical part 3 and a radial web 13 disposed therebetweeen. A plurality of elastic elements 2 are extended from the part 3 and formed in an arm-like state radially bent. Further, radially protruding protrusions 7 are provided at ends of the elements 2. The hub 1 is compressed in winding on the hub 1 of a magnetic tape. Accordingly, before winding, the hub 1 is brought into contact with the hub holder 6 only at the protrusions 7. Meanwhile, when the tape is completely wound on the hub 1, the hub 1 is held by the elements 2 and the protrusions 7, and the hub 1 is brought into contact with the winding shaft 9 or the holder 6.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a magnetic recording medium low in surface roughness, excellent in wear resistance of layer surface, having magnetic layer stability at a high temp. of 85 deg.C and high humidity condition and capable of preventing the lowering of output level and the block of a tape in an extreme operating condition. CONSTITUTION: The magnetic recording medium is obtained by preparing dispersion, in which an anisotropic magnetic material, and usual additives are dispersed in a polymer binder solution in an organic solvent, applying on a non- magnetic base body to film form, orienting by placing the anisotropic magnetic material in magnetic field and hardening the formed magnetic layer. And 0.3-5wt.% finely pulverized polysilicic acid made hydrophobic by a chemically bonded carbon is allowed to exist in the magnetic layer.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing a magnetic recording medium having a ferromagnetic metallic tightly adhered thin layer formed on a polymer substrate without bringing about defects arising thus far, and more particularly, greatly improves the adhesiveness of the metallic layer to the substrate, forming a uniform and mechanically stable metallic layer free from defects, such as cracks and internal strains, and assuring the homogenous characteristics over a wide area with a high-speed and short-time treatment. CONSTITUTION: This method is for production of magnetic recording medium consisting essentially of polymer substrate, ferromagnetic metallic tightly adhered thin layer applied on the surface of the substrate by PVD method and if necessary, a protective layer formed on the metallic layer. The polymer substrate is exposed to UV radiations which are induced by the cracking of excimer and has a wavelength from 150 to 400nm and has an energy density below the abrasion threshold prior to the application of the metallic layer.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a process for producing a magnetic recording medium of a metallic thin layer type of which the projection of the desirable magnetic direction with respect to a tape surface is aligned to an average recording direction. CONSTITUTION: The magnetic recording medium is produced by forming a vapor jet 7 of a ferromagnetic material from an evaporating device 6 to which this material is supplied in a reduced pressure chamber 1 and depositing the vapor jet by evaporation on polymer band-like substrates guided on a cylindrical drum. At this time, the vapor jet 7 is brought into collision against the substrates 2, 2' at the angle different from 90 deg.. The vapor jet 7 of the ferromagnetic material injected form the evaporating device 6 toward the cylindrical drums 4, 4' in the reduced pressure chamber 1 is brought into contact with the surfaces of two sheets of the band-lie substrates 2, 2' guided in the direction facing each other on two pieces of the separate cylindrical drums 4, 4' at the angle not below 30 deg. and not over 90 deg.. The evaporating device 6 is shifted in the axial line direction of the drums so as to be arranged between two pieces of the cylindrical drums 4, 4'.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To increase a protective function of tape cassettes by providing tape locking elements, which are at the bottom face of a parallel hexahedron container for tape cassettes, with arc-shaped ring segments which are roughly adapted to the drive orifice of the tape locking element. CONSTITUTION: A container 5 is composed of a bottom part 6 and a lid part 7 which are pivotally connected by a hinge means 17, the bottom part 6 is provided with locking spindles (locking elements) 9, 10, and the lid part 7 is provided with a cassette pocket 8. The bottom part 6 is provided with a notch 11 to which the front wall of the pocket 8 is fitted when the container 5 is closed. The container 5 houses a compact cassette K. This cassette K is provided with a drive orifice 18 in which a hub 20 with drive gears is arranged. In this drive orifice 18, the locking elements 9, 10 are pushed which consists of a ring segment 21, a longitudinal web 22, and a center peg 23. The ring segment 21 is formed in an ark shape roughly adapted to the circular shape of the drive orifice 18.
