    Abstract: The prodn. of aliphatic and cycloaliphatic oximes (1) comprises reacting the corresp. imine (2) with oxygen or oxygen-contg. gas in the presence of a catalyst, except for catalysts of formula (Tix(M*D1-x)(2n/3*E1-x))O2 (I), where D = Si or Ge; E = Ce of Al; x = 0.06-0.9; m = 1 if n = 0; m = 0 if n = 1. Also claimed is a process for the prodn. of (1) comprising (a) imination of the corresp. ketone with ammonia by known methods followed by (b) catalytic oxidn. of the imine as above.

    Abstract: An alkaline silicate suspension is reacted with an aqueous solution of a zinc salt at normal pressure and at temperatures between 50 degrees C and the boiling point of the suspension arising. It is alternatively reacted under hydrothermal conditions at the suspension boiling point up to 250 degrees C. Aqueous pH value is held at 4-9.5 throughout. The Zn/Si atom ratio is kept within 1.6-2.5. Preferred Features: From the product, a suitable zinc silicate, is formed. This has the hemimorphite structure as claimed, the composition Zn4Si2O7(OH)2-2yOy.xH2O, where x and y are between 0 and 1. To this end the product is roasted at temperatures of 70-600 degrees C. pH is maintained in the region 5.5-8 or 6-7.5. When reactin other salts, 0-20 mol% of the following group A, referred to zinc, is used with 0-20 mol% of the following group B, referred to silicon, (i.e. the elements in the hemimorphite structure described). Group A comprises: beryllium, magnesium, calcium, strontiu barium, manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel, copper, cadmium and mercury.     Abstract: Production of an alkylene oxide (A) involves (a) epoxidation of the corresponding olefin with aromatic peroxycarboxylic acid (I) and separation of the resultant aromatic carboxylic acid (II), (b) hydrogenation of (II) to the corresponding aldehyde (III) and (c) oxidation of (III) with oxygen (or gas containing oxygen) to (I), which is re-used for the epoxidation. The novel feature is that (i) (II) and/or (III) lost in the cycle is replaced by compounds obtained by oxidation of the parent alkyl-aromatics, (ii) phenolic by-products in the aldehydes are removed before stage (c) or (iii), if the olefin has 2-6C, it is prepared by dehydrogenation of a corresponding 2-6C hydrocarbon.
