Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thickener for a surfactant-contg. compsn., esp. for an alkyl- or alkenylpolyglycoside-contg. compsn., by using a polymerized fatty acid amide. SOLUTION: A polymerized fatty acid amide of the formula is used. In the formula, A is a 12-110C dimerized fatty acid residue; R1 is hydroxyl, a 1-12C alkyl or a 3-8C cycloclkyl group (contg. one to six 1-4C alkoxy groups each being optionally substs. by one or two hydroxyl or 1-4C alkoxy groups), amino, or a 1-4C mono- or a dialkylamino group optionally substd. by one or two hydroxyl groups; R2 is H or a 1-4C alkyl group optionally substd. by one or two hydroxyl groups; R3 is hydroxyl, a 2-12C alkylene group (contg. one to six 1-4C alkoxy groups each being optionally substd. by one or two hydroxyl groups), amino, or a 1-4C mono- or a dialkylamino group optionally substd. by one or two hydroxyl groups; and (n) is 0-20.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyamine of an acylated polymer in which a part of nitrogen atoms of the polyamine have long chain acyl groups and the other parts have short chain acyl groups, useful for an aqueous preparation, preferably a viscosity increasing agent for cosmetic composition or the like. SOLUTION: The polyamine of the acylated polymer in which a part of the nitrogen atoms of the polyamine have the acyl groups expressed by formula I (R1 is a 7-27C alkyl, a 7-27C alkenyl or a 7-27C hydroxyalkyl) and a part of the nitrogen atoms have groups expressed by formula II (R2 is a 1-6C alkyl or a 1-6C hydroxyalkyl). The polymer polyamine preferably have 0.3-40% of the nitrogen atoms of the polymer are acylated by the acyl groups expressed by formula I and 5-100% of the nitrogen atoms are preferably acylated. This polymer polyamine can be obtained by reacting a carboxylic acid expressed by formula R1-COOH or a carboxylic acid expressed by formula R2-COOH. This polymer polyamine is expected in use for a viscosity increasing agent.

Abstract: A coating or printing process comprises coating a substrate with a material (I) contg. liq. crystalline (LC) monomers with at least two polymerisable gps. for coating and at least one for printing, and then polymerising the material. Material (I) contains either (a1) a chiral LC monomer and (b) a polymer binder and/or monomeric precursors thereof or, in the case of dispersion coatings and printing inks, a dispersant (d), or (a2) an achiral LC monomer, (b) as above and (c) a non-LC chiral cpd. Also claimed are (i) materials coated by this process; (ii) mixts. suitable for use as reaction lacquers and objects coated with such mixts., mixts. as above for use as printing pastes, and mixts. as above for use as emulsion pain; and (iii) the prodn. of pigments contg. polymerisable LC cpds. or mixts. as above by printing techniques.

Abstract: Phosphate esters (I), obtd. by (a) reacting a mono-, oligo-or polyamine with an alkylene oxide (AO) or alkylene carbonate to give an aminoalcohol or an amino-mono-, -oligo- or -polyetheralcohol (A) in which 50-100% of the alkoxylatable NH gps. in the amine are alkoxylated, (b) reacting (A) with a hydroxycarboxylic or dicarboxylic acid and a diol to give a mono-, oligo- or polyester (B1), or with a di-isocyanate and a diol to give a di-, oligo- or poly-urethane (B2), in which 50-100% of the terminal OH gps in (A) are esterified or converted into urethane gps., and (c) reacting (B1) or (B2) with an ester- forming phosphorus cpd. (PC) so that 5-100% of the terminal OH gps. in (B1/2) are converted into phosphate ester gps. and the P atoms are mono- and/or di- and opt. triesterified. Also claimed is the above process for the prodn. of (I).
