Abstract: A matte clear coating composition for an aluminum member, comprising acrylic resin (A) having a hydroxy value of 100 to 200 mgKOH/g; melamine resin (B); silica particles (C) having an average particle size of 1.0 to 15 μm; and polyolefin wax (D) having an average particle size of 10 to 40 μm and a melting point of 145° C. to 180° C., the matte clear coating composition comprising 5 to 20 mass % of silica particles (C) and 3 to 15 mass % of polyolefin wax (D) based on the total solids content of acrylic resin (A) and melamine resin (B). The matte clear coating composition for an aluminum member satisfies both corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance (scratch resistance).

Abstract: Methods and systems comprising a first and a second powder coating apparatus, with each apparatus comprising a tubular barrel having an axial bore extending longitudinally therethrough, are usable for coating an interior surface of a tubular member. Each coating apparatus comprises a conical member connected with the tubular barrel and at least one gas conduit connected to the tubular barrel for communicating gas into the tubular barrel. The at least one gas conduit contains a gas flow control valve connected thereto for controlling the volumetric flow rate of gas through the at least one gas conduit. Each coating apparatus further comprises at least one container for holding a coating material, an inlet conduit for communicating the coating material into the axial bore of the tubular barrel, and a plurality of gas nozzles connected to the tubular barrel for inducing spiraling gas flow through the axial bore of the tubular barrel.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for applying a foamed mixture of paints on a structural surface. A continuous stream of high velocity gas moves through a nozzle and is directed toward the structural surface, and two or more paints may be intermittently moved into the gas stream of the nozzle and aerated and mixed with each other and moved with the gas stream to form a foam that is applied to the structural surface. The components of the foamed mixture may include single component or plural component materials such as polyurethane foam, adhesive, and polyurea formulations, and may be moved through a volumetric metering device consisting of material heaters, a heated hose, and an applicator gun. The nitrogen gas stream fluidizes the mixture as it passes through and out of the nozzle and forms the mixture into a foam that is applied to the structural surface.

Abstract: The invention provides a novel method for producing a composite member by fixing a surface member to the outer peripheral surface of a core member. A method for producing a composite member having a core member and a surface member fixed to the outer peripheral surface of the core member includes the surface member providing step of providing the surface member having magnetism lower than magnetism of the core member made of a conductive material on the outer peripheral surface of the core member, and the fusing step of electromagnetic induction heating the core member from outside the surface member to melt at least one of facing regions between the surface member and the core member with heat of the heated core member and fuse the surface member to the core member.

Abstract: Methods of manufacturing pre-fabricated insulated wall structures are described in this specification. The methods include (a) attaching a foam panel to a front frame surface of a substantially horizontally positioned frame; (b) placing the frame having the foam panel attached thereto on a track conveyor configured to convey the frame having the foam panel attached thereto in a substantially upright position; (c) conveying the frame having the foam panel attached thereto on the track conveyer in a substantially upright position to a spray foam application station; and (d) spray applying a spray foam composition into a cavity of the frame to form a substantially upright positioned wall structure having a foam layer deposited in the cavity in which the foam layer adheres to the foam panel. Also disclosed are track conveyors suitable for use in such methods.

Abstract: A system treats uneven surfaces of additive manufactured objects to improve the transparency and glossiness of the surfaces. The system operates a sprayer to apply fluid material used to form the uneven surface to the uneven surface to smooth the surface or the system operates an actuator to dip the additive manufactured object into a bath of fluid material that is the same as the material used to form the uneven surface to smooth the surface. A heater is provided to dry non-UV curable material applied to the uneven surface and a source of UV radiation is provided to cure UV curable material applied to the uneven surface.
