    Abstract: A coating apparatus includes a die coater that supplies a coating liquid to a web. The die coater includes a die main body, a manifold, a slot, a lip face, a mount, a decompression chamber, and a container. The container includes a guide plate guiding the coating liquid or a solvent ejected from the slot of the die coater without bringing the coating liquid or solvent into contact with the mount and the decompression chamber in a non-steady state, in which the coating liquid is not supplied from the die coater to the web. The container collects the coating liquid or the solvent guided by the guide plate. The coating apparatus also includes a liquid discharge tube that is connected to the container and discharges the coating liquid or solvent to an outside of the decompression chamber.

    Abstract: A sheet comprising: (1) a core member comprising one or more layers and having a first major surface and (2) a slip control layer disposed on at least a portion of the first major surface, wherein the slip control layer comprises: (i) a footing layer disposed on at least a portion of the first major surface of the core member, (ii) a binder layer disposed on the footing layer, and (iii) an array of particles disposed in the binder layer and footing layer and protruding therefrom, wherein the average diameter of the particles is greater than the combined thickness of the foot layer and binder layer. A process for making such a sheet comprising: (1) providing a core member; (2) forming a footing layer on at least a portion of the first major surface of the core member, wherein the footing layer is viscoelastic and has a Tg that is lower than either the Tg or the Tm of the polymer at the first major surface of the core member; (3) applying a binder layer composition comprising a film forming polymer and particles to the surface of the footing layer; then (4) tentering the assembly under sufficient heat to soften the footing layer such that the particles sink into the footing layer, wherein the average diameter of the particles is greater than the combined thickness of the footing layer and binder layer.

    Abstract: A system and method are provided for manufacturing the polymer-coated fertilizers with a controlled release in a single pass. The system has a feeding mechanism connected to a first chill roll to supply the articles to the first cavities provided on the first roll to store and hold the articles. A first machine produces and applies a first polymer film on the articles held in the first chill, roll to coat the articles partially with the first polymer film. The partially coated articles are transferred to a second chill roll placed at a side or on a top of the first chill roll. A second machine produces and applies the second polymer film on the partially coated articles in the second chill roll so that the articles are encapsulated by the first and second polymer films. A collector mechanism receives the encapsulated articles from the second chill roll.

    Abstract: The present invention provides an active material coating apparatus to form an active material layer having a uniform thickness in a width direction of a substrate when forming the active material layer on a substrate.An active material coating apparatus according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes a lower die having a groove for supplying an active material of a slurry state and forming a first lip portion of an outlet slot connected to the groove and outputting the active material; an upper die disposed on an upper side of the lower die to face the first lip portion, having a second lip portion of the outlet slot, and having a hinge portion at the rear of the second lip portion according to the outlet direction of the active material; a fixing spacer interposed between the lower die and the upper die at the rear of the hinge portion according to the outlet direction of the active material and determining a fixing gap; a flexible spacer interposed between the first lip portion and the second lip portion on both sides of the width direction of the outlet slot and forming a variable gap; and a controller installed to the upper die and pushing/pulling the second lip portion with respect to the hinge portion to control the variable gap between the first lip portion and the second lip portion.
