A printer that incorporates a spectrometry device includes a spectroscope, a distance measurer, and a spectrometry unit. The spectroscope includes a wavelength-selective interference filter on which light from a position of measurement in a medium is incident. The distance measurer measures the distance between the position of measurement and the spectroscope, and the spectrometry unit performs spectrometry at the position of measurement by using the spectroscope and correct a measured value obtained by the spectrometry based on the measured distance.

An apparatus and method are disclosed for hyperspectral imaging of a scene along an imaging path, from a viewpoint which is arranged to move relative to the scene. The method comprises acquiring hyperspectral image data of a portion of the scene from the viewpoint, along a first viewing direction relative to the viewpoint and redirecting the viewing direction from the first viewing direction to a second viewing direction relative to the viewpoint, in dependence of the relative movement, to maintain a view of said portion of the scene as the viewpoint moves along a portion of the imaging path.

A transportable goniospectrometer with a constant observation centre for the radiometric measurement of the reflexion behaviour of a natural surface includes a spectrometer having an optical unit and a sensor. A main pillar has a lower and an upper pillar end. An arc has a fixed and a free arc end. A slide is disposed displaceably and fixably along the arc. The slide carries the optical unit orientated towards the observation centre. A cantilever has a fixed cantilever end connected to the upper pillar end via a screw connection, and a free cantilever end which has a suspension that is rotatable and fixable about a vertical axis. The suspension is connected to the sensor and to the fixed arc end of the arc. The suspension is configured to position the arc at a distance of the arc radius of the arc above the natural surface.

A method of performing Raman spectroscopy, and an apparatus for performing the method, including irradiating, with laser light, a trace amount of a target substance disposed on a painted surface, receiving reflected laser light and a Raman return signal from the trace amount of the target substance, processing the Raman return signal using, at least, a spectrograph and camera to obtain a Raman signature for the target substance, and identifying the target substance based on the Raman signature for the target substance and a database of Raman signatures. The laser light wavelength may be selected based on a ratio of Raman return signal power to fluorescence power.

Disclosed is an image sensor for measuring illumination, proximity and color temperature, including: a light source unit configured to irradiate infrared with a wavelength of a specific band onto an object; a light source controller configured to control power supplied to the light source unit; an infrared transmission filter configured to allow only the infrared and visible ray with the wavelength of the specific band among light incident through a lens after being reflected by the object to selectively transmit therethrough; a first sensing unit provided with an image pixel for acquiring an image of the object introduced through the infrared transmission filter; and a second sensing unit configured to receive the infrared and the visible ray having passed through the infrared transmission filter and measure current illumination, proximity to the object and color temperature of the object.

A system and method for detecting environmental conditions using SWIR hyperspectral imaging. A method may comprise collecting a plurality of interacted photons from at least one location and passing the interacted photons through a tunable filter, filtering the interacted photons into a plurality of wavelength bands. These filtered photons may be detected and analyzed to determine the presence or absence of an environmental condition. A system may comprise at least one collection lens configured to collect at least one plurality of interacted photons from at least one location and a tunable filter for filtering the interacted photons into a plurality of wavelength bands. The system may further comprise a detector configured to detect the filtered photons and generate at least one hyperspectral image representative of the location. The system may further comprise a processor for analyzing the hyperspectral data set and determining the presence or absence of an environmental condition.

A handheld or portable detection system with a high degree of specificity and accuracy, capable of use at small and substantial standoff distances (e.g., greater than 12 inches) is utilized to identify specific substances and mixtures thereof in order to provide information to officials for identification purposes and assists in determinations related to the legality, hazardous nature and/or disposition decision of such substance(s). The system uses a synchronous detector and visible light filter to enhance detection capabilities.
