    Abstract: An optical filter may include a substrate. The optical filter may include a first mirror. The optical filter may include a second mirror. The optical filter may include a spacer. The first mirror, the second mirror, and the spacer may form a plurality of component filters. A first component filter, of the plurality of component filters, may be associated with a first cross-sectional area and a second component filter, of the plurality of component filters, is associated with a second cross-sectional area. The first cross-sectional area and the second cross-sectional area may be configured to response balance the first component filter and the second component filter.

    Abstract: An optical device may include an optical filter disposed over a first surface of one or more substrates. The optical filter may include an aperture and may be configured to pass light that is received via the aperture and that is associated with one or more wavelength ranges via the one or more substrates based on an angle of incidence of the light on the optical filter. The optical device may include one or more optical elements disposed over a second surface of the one or more substrates that are configured to direct light beams of the light that are associated with a particular wavelength range, of the one or more wavelength ranges, to a particular set of sensor elements of an optical sensor. The optical filter may include a thin film optical interference filter and the one or more optical elements may include one or more metamaterial structures.

    Abstract: A spectrometer includes a transparent substrate including a first surface and a second surface that face each other and are substantially parallel to each other; a slit provided on the first surface and through which light is incident onto the transparent substrate; a spectrum optical system including metasurface including a plurality of nanostructures that are two-dimensionally arranged and satisfy a sub-wavelength scattering condition, wherein the metasurface includes a focusing metasurface which includes first nanostructures of the plurality of nanostructures, and is configured to reflect, disperse, and focus the light incident thereon through the slit, at different angles based on respective wavelengths; and a sensor configured to receive the light from the focusing metasurface. When L is a total length of an optical path from the slit to the sensor and D is a thickness of the transparent substrate, L and D satisfy the following inequality: L/D>3.

    Abstract: Provided are a spectral filter, and an image sensor and an electronic device each including the spectral filter. The spectral filter includes a plurality of first filter arrays respectively including a plurality of band filters and a plurality of second filter arrays provided on the plurality of first filter arrays. The plurality of unit filters includes a first reflecting plate, a second reflecting plate provided above the first reflecting plate, and a plurality of cavities provided between the first and second reflecting plates and each having central wavelengths of different bands. Each of the plurality of cavities includes a lower cavity layer, a upper cavity layer, and an intermediate light absorption layer provided between the lower cavity layer and the upper cavity layer. Each of the plurality of band filters is configured to transmit light in a specific band, and two or more of the plurality of cavities are configured to have a same effective refractive index.
