Abstract:
An exemplary subcutaneous medical device implanted within a patient uses a coil-less magnetic field sensor included within the subcutaneous medical device to detect a toggling sequence between a presence and an absence of an externally-generated static magnetic field. The toggling sequence is representative of a digital data stream according to a digital wireless communication protocol. The subcutaneous medical device identifies, based on the detected toggling sequence and in accordance with the digital wireless communication protocol, a multi-bit command encoded within the digital data stream represented by the toggling sequence. The subcutaneous medical device further performs, in response to the identifying of the multi-bit command, an action associated with the multi-bit command. Corresponding methods and a corresponding external controller are also disclosed.
Abstract:
This disclosure concerns a wireless communication system adapted to establish a feedback protocol between a handheld remote control and at least an adjustable bed controller, the handheld remote control having a memory position user interface adapted to initiate a transmission of a position recall command from the handheld remote control to an adjustable bed controller using the feedback protocol to adjust a position of a bed segment to a preset position from within a predetermined range of acceptable positions stored in memory. The adjustable bed controller is adapted to initiate a communication from the adjustable bed controller to the handheld remote to indicate that the adjustable bed controller has responded to the position recall command.
Abstract:
A system method and device, the system including a gait device for facilitating a gait of a person over a surface and one or a plurality of crutches to provide support over the surface the gait device, each of said one or a plurality of crutches including a locomotion facilitator to enhance locomotion of that crutch over the surface and a mechanism to modify the locomotion of that crutch over the surface.
Abstract:
A CPM chair for repeatedly flexing and extending a patient's knee permits a patient to remain comfortably seated while controlling therapeutic knee flexure and extension. A slide member is longitudinally reciprocal between extended and retracted positions with its slide direction controlled by the patent. A drum has an endless cable wrapped about its periphery and is rotated in alternate directions by a reversible electrical motor. The cable extends over respective forward and rearward pulleys and is secured to the slide member. A pedal assembly supports the patient's foot and is pivotally secured to the slide member to accommodate different positions of the patient's heel. Control switches are actuable by the patient to control slide member direction.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a massage apparatus having a housing with a massage formation for contacting a body part of a user. A massage mechanism is oriented within the housing for imparting a massage effect to the massage formation. A light source is provided on the massage formation for conveying an illumination effect from the massage formation. A partially translucent massager is disclosed for providing a visual effect of the underlying massage operation. Further, a roller massage assembly is provided wherein a load imparted to a roller is distributed directly to a structure of the massager for preventing distribution of the load to the massage mechanism.
Abstract:
The present invention is aimed at providing a chair-like massaging apparatus and a forearm massager for use with the chair-like massaging apparatus, which are capable of massaging a forearm of a user as desired and allow the user to take a free posture because of absence of an arm obstructing part in an upper portion of an armrest when the forearm is not to be massaged. To this end, the massaging apparatus of the present invention is configured such that an arm rest (5) configured to support a forearm of the user is provided with a detachable member (38) that is movable along a guide rail (37) and the detachable member (38) is provided with a fitting groove (39). A forearm massager (7) configured to be capable of giving pressure stimulation to the forearm with the forearm of the user sandwiched between the fix and support portion (46) and the pressing portion (47) is provided with a fitting protrusion (40) fitted in the fitting groove (39). By removably fitting the fitting protrusion (40) into the fitting groove (39), the forearm massager (7) is removably attached to the armrest (5).
Abstract:
An adjustable massaging device includes a track comprising two rails formed on a support structure. The device includes a carriage assembly that causes a massaging unit comprising a pair of massaging members to move back and forth along the rails on the support structure. The massaging members are mounted to a rotatable shaft in such a fashion as to perform a finger pressure-like massage or a tapping massage on the interior of the massaging surface, such that a user may be massaged by contacting the exterior of the massaging surface. The adjustable massaging device may be used in the back of a chair, for example, to massage a user's back. The support structure on which the massaging unit is formed is adjustable within the chair such that, in a retracted position, the massaging members are distanced from the massaging surface and the chair may be used as a standard office chair without any massaging parts contacting the massaging surface. In a number of deployed or massaging positions, the massaging members are in contact with the interior of the massaging surface and are capable of exerting various massage pressures. The support structure may be hinged to a bracket and pivotally movable with respect to the bracket by a handle or motorized means.
Abstract:
A massage machine is provided which is adapted for effective massage by initiating a pair of therapeutic fingers into a lateral movement toward or away from each other approximately simultaneously with the start of an upward or downward movement of the fingers. The massage machine comprises the therapeutic fingers arranged on the backrest of a chair, bed or the like for supporting the back of the person to be massaged, lift means for moving the therapeutic fingers upward and downward longitudinally of the backrest, means for laterally moving the therapeutic fingers toward and away from each other, and control means for initiating the therapeutic fingers into a movement toward or away from each other by the laterally moving means approximately simultaneously with the start of an upward movement of the fingers by the lift means and for initiating the fingers into a movement toward or away from each other by the laterally moving means approximately simultaneously with the start of a downward movement of the fingers by the lift means.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an apparatus for the level adjustment and/or arching adjustment of a flexibly resilient support element (4) for the lordosic vertebrae of a sitting person, and which is fitted in the frame (1) of a back rest of a seat, each apparatus comprising a gear mechanism (12) including a worm (14), a worm gear (15), a pinion (16) and a tooth element as well as a drive means. According to the invention the gear mechanism is directly connected to the drive means in such a manner that the rigid drive shaft (13) thereof carries the worm (14) engaging into the worm gear (15), the pinion (16) being fixed axially in the worm gear (15) in tooth engagement with a gear wheel (17) in a plane parallel to the worm gear (15). The gear wheel (17) being associated with at least one reel (21) to which the one end of the sheathed cable (23) of a Bowden cable assembly (24) is fixed and onto which it can be wound, the gear wheel (17) comprising at least one projection, which coacts with stop surfaces inside the casing (11) of the gear mechanism (12) to limit in a defined manner the movement of the gear wheel (17). Preferably the drive means is an electric motor.
