According to embodiments, there is provided a method apparatus for determining an encoding scheme for transmission of encoded data across a communications channel. The method includes determining the encoding scheme at a design Signal-to-Noise Ratio and evaluating a Frame Error Rate of the encoding scheme. If the FER is not within a target range, the method further includes modifying the encoding scheme until the evaluated FER is within the target range. There is further provided a method and apparatus for mapping bit labels to a plurality of symbols in a constellation, wherein the constellation are organisable into a plurality of sets and each bit label includes a plurality of bit positions. The method includes determining a distance metric between sets and merging pairs of sets according to the distance metric. The method further includes assigning a value to a bit position for bit labels of symbols in the merged set.

In a particular aspect, an apparatus includes a first network interface. The first network interface is configured to receive a packet via a packet-switched network. The packet may include a primary coding of a first audio frame and a redundant coding of a second audio frame. The apparatus further includes a processor. The processor is configured to generate a modified packet that includes one or more bits that indicate signaling information or packet decoding information. The signaling information or packet decoding information may correspond to decoding of at least one of the primary coding or the redundant coding. The apparatus further includes a second network interface configured to transmit the modified packet via a circuit-switched network.
Abstract:
A wireless local area network data frame transmission method and apparatus. The wireless local area network data frame transmission method includes determining a current transmission rate of a data frame as a first transmission rate; when a size of the data frame is less than a preset threshold, adjusting the current transmission rate of the data frame to a second transmission rate, where the second transmission rate is less than the first transmission rate, and transmitting the data frame at the second transmission rate. By means of the embodiments of the present disclosure, noises existing in a voice obtained by means of decoding by a receiving party can be avoided in a manner of reducing a voice data frame transmission rate.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for using communications channels corresponding to frequency bands subject to cellular network, e.g., LTE, interference and/or other interference are described. The methods are well suited for use of cable networks where communications over a coax cable or via cable device may be subject to LTE interference. In various embodiments data traffic is classified based on whether the traffic corresponds to a protocol that supports a retry communications mechanism in the event of a communication error, the type of traffic data and/or the priority of the traffic data. In some embodiments data being communicated using a protocol which supports a retry mechanism are routed over channels subject to interference even if, in some cases, the packets correspond to data which has a higher priority or QoS requirements than packets, e.g., best effort packets, which are transmitted using a protocol that does not support a packet retry mechanism.

Provided are apparatuses and methods for generating and transmitting transmission frames of information data. A transmitting apparatus includes: a stream processor configured to generate a plurality of baseband frames; a frame generator configured to generate, from the plurality of baseband frames, a plurality of transmission frames which includes information data commonly provided to a fixed device and a mobile device, first parities to be used for signal processing at the fixed device, and second parities to be used for signal processing at the mobile device; and a transmitter configured to transmit the plurality of transmission frames.

A method for indicating a combination between a codeword and a layer in a MIMO communication, system, a layer mapping method, and a data transmission method using the same are disclosed. A minimum number of codeword-layer mapping combinations from among all available combinations based on the' numbers of all codewords and all layers are pre-defined in consideration of a ratio of a codeword to a layer, a reception performance of a receiver, and reduction of combinations, so that a data transmission method using the predefined combinations is implemented. If a.specific one codeword is mapped to at least two layers, a diversity gain can be acquired.
