Abstract: In certain exemplary embodiments, an air purifier comprises a housing defining an enclosure and having an air entrance and an air exit; a particulate filter; a NCCO filter material configured to adsorb and decompose at least one gaseous pollutant; an AOG configured to generate at least one oxidant; an oxidant remover configured to remove at least one oxidant; a fan unit configured to generate airflow from the air entrance to the air exit; wherein the particulate filter, the NCCO filter material, the AOG, the oxidant remover and the fan unit are positioned within the enclosure such that during operation, a flow of air passes from the air entrance to the air exit through the particulate filter and the NCCO filter material along a direction of the flow of air. In certain embodiments, the air purifier may ensure safety to users while efficiency in removing contaminants can be greatly improved.

Abstract: The invention relates to a photocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction method carried out in liquid and/or gas phase under irradiation, using a photocatalyst containing a first semiconductor, particles comprising one or more metallic-state elements M, and a second semiconductor SC, wherein the method is carried out by contacting a feedstock containing the CO2 and at least one sacrificial compound with the photocatalyst, then irradiating the photocatalyst such that the CO2 is reduced, and oxidising the sacrificial compound in order to produce an effluent containing at least in part C1 or above carbon molecules other than CO2.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to yolk-shell structured catalysts having compositions that can be particularly useful in the dry reforming of methane. These catalysts can demonstrate long-term stability that would be an advantage in industrial applications such as mitigating fossil fuel plant emissions. Example catalysts can include a yolk containing nickel (Ni) or nickel oxide (NiO), platinum (Pt) or platinum oxide (PtO2), and a third material (M3) such as a cerium oxide (CeOx). The shell can be formed of a ceramic such as silica and is generally a porous material that can support the yolk.

Abstract: Systems for treating wastewater containing organic nitrogen compounds are disclosed. The systems include a wet air oxidation unit having an oxidation zone, a catalytic zone, and a metal-based catalyst. Methods of treating wastewater containing organic nitrogen compounds are also disclosed. The methods include contacting the wastewater with an oxidant to produce a mixed liquor, contacting the mixed liquor with a metal-based catalyst to catalyze ammonia and produce a gas containing nitrogen and a liquid effluent containing nitrogen. Methods of retrofitting a wet air oxidation unit including providing a metal-based catalyst are also disclosed. Methods of facilitating treatment of wastewater in a wet air oxidation unit including providing a metal-based catalyst are also disclosed.

Abstract: A catalyst composition for converting an alcohol to olefins, the catalyst composition comprising the following components: (a) a support (e.g., particles) comprising silicon and oxygen; (b) at least one of copper and silver residing on and/or incorporated into said support; and (c) at least one lanthanide element residing on and/or incorporated into said support. The catalyst may also further include component (d), which is zinc. Also described herein is a method for converting an alcohol to one or more olefinic compounds (an olefin fraction) by contacting the alcohol with a catalyst at a temperature of at least 100° C. and up to 500° C. to result in direct conversion of the alcohol to an olefin fraction containing one or more olefinic compounds containing at least three carbon atoms; wherein ethylene and propylene are produced in a minor proportion of the olefin fraction, and butenes and higher olefins are produced in major proportion.
