Abstract: A method of using ZnO particles for the treatment of colon cancer and a method of using the particles for reducing the concentration of an organic contaminant in an aqueous solution is described. The ZnO particles are substantially spherical and may have nanopetals that provide a nanoflower morphology. The synthesis and characterization of the ZnO particles is also discussed.

Abstract: Provided is a method for converting waste plastic pyrolysis oil into light olefins with a high yield. The method includes (1) putting waste plastic pyrolysis oil into a reactor; (2) allowing the waste plastic pyrolysis oil to react in the reactor in the presence of a catalytic cracking catalyst containing (a) a compound of an alkali metal or a compound of an alkaline earth metal and (b) a zeolite to form a product; and (3) recovering light olefins by separating the catalytic cracking catalyst and oil from the product obtained in step (2).

Abstract: Provided herein are catalysts for dewaxing of a feedstock, the catalyst comprising between about 40 wt. % and about 99.9 wt. % zeolite, between about 0 wt. % and about 40 wt. % binder and at least about 0.1 wt. % noble metal, as well as catalyst systems, methods and products produced using the catalysts. The zeolite having a crystal comprising a largest included sphere less than or equal to about 7.5 angstroms, a largest diffusing sphere greater than or equal to about 5.0 angstroms, and a silica to alumina ratio greater than or equal to about 100:1. The catalyst having a temperature-programmed ammonia desorption (“TPAD”) of less than about 0.25 mmol/g.

Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a method for preparing caprolactam including: (1) contacting cyclohexanone oxime with a catalyst to carry out reaction in the presence of ethanol and under the condition of gas phase Beckmann rearrangement reaction of cyclohexanone oxime; (2) separating the reaction product obtained in step (1) to produce an ethanol solution of crude caprolactam, and then separating the ethanol solution of crude caprolactam to obtain ethanol and crude caprolactam; (3) removing impurities with boiling points lower than that of caprolactam in the crude caprolactam to obtain a light component removal product; (4) mixing the light component removal product with a crystallization solvent to carry out crystallization and solid-liquid separation to obtain a crystalline crystal; (5) subjecting the crystalline crystal to a hydrogenation reaction; wherein the crystallization solvent contains 0.1-2 wt % of ethanol.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a hollow spherical catalyst for a fixed bed with internal fluidization of particles and a method for preparing the same. The preparation method used in the present invention is characterized in: fully mixing precious metal nanopowder with an organic oil phase to form an internal oil phase; preparing a gel ball of an oil-in-water structure by taking an aluminum oxide molding solution as an outer aqueous phase using an independently researched and developed coaxial dual-dropper forming apparatus; and then preparing a hollow aluminum oxide catalyst containing precious metal powder from the gel ball through processes of aging, calcination, and reduction. The resulting catalyst is expressed as X@Al2O3, where the precious metal nanopowder X is wrapped inside hollow Al2O3, and the catalyst has an outer diameter of 1.5-5.0 mm, a shell pore diameter (aluminum oxide) of 10-50 nm, and the precious metal nanopowder sized 200-500 nm. When the catalyst is used in a fixed bed, the reactant and product molecules diffuse into and out of the catalyst smoothly and fully contact with precious metal components, forming a micro-fluidization reaction system, thus realizing complementary advantages of an existing fixed-bed catalyst and a fluidized-bed catalyst, and reducing losses of active components of the precious metal.
