Abstract:
A spectral measurement device includes: an optical band-pass filter section that has first to n-th wavelengths (n is an integer of 2 or more) having a predetermined wavelength width as a spectral band thereof; a correction operation section that corrects a reception signal based on an output optical signal from the optical band-pass filter section; and a signal processing section that executes predetermined signal processing based on the reception signal corrected by the correction operation section that corrects the reception signal based on the change in the spectral distribution of the reception signal.

Abstract:
A system and method for detecting environmental conditions using SWIR hyperspectral imaging. A method may comprise collecting a plurality of interacted photons from at least one location and passing the interacted photons through a tunable filter, filtering the interacted photons into a plurality of wavelength bands. These filtered photons may be detected and analyzed to determine the presence or absence of an environmental condition. A system may comprise at least one collection lens configured to collect at least one plurality of interacted photons from at least one location and a tunable filter for filtering the interacted photons into a plurality of wavelength bands. The system may further comprise a detector configured to detect the filtered photons and generate at least one hyperspectral image representative of the location. The system may further comprise a processor for analyzing the hyperspectral data set and determining the presence or absence of an environmental condition.
Abstract:
Objects such as manufactured goods or articles, works of art, media such as identity documents, legal documents, financial instruments, transaction cards, other documents, and/or biological tissue are sampled via sequential illumination in various bands of the electromagnetic spectrum, a test response to the illumination is analyzed with respect to reference responses of reference objects. The sequence may be varied. The sequence may define an activation order, a drive level and/or temperature for operating one or more sources. Illumination may be in visible, infrared, ultraviolet, or other portions of the electromagnetic spectrum. Elements of the evaluation system may be remote from one another, for example coupled by a network.
Abstract:
An inspection device for inspecting an object based on illumination light acting on the object, including a light detection unit that receives the illumination light acting on the object for inspection and is provided with photoelectric conversion units with different spectral sensitivity characteristics, an operating condition determining unit that determines operating conditions for the light detection unit, a measurement control unit that controls the light detection unit in accordance with the operating conditions, and a color estimation unit that estimates color of the object for inspection based on output from the light detection unit controlled in accordance with the operating conditions. The operating condition determining unit determines the operating conditions based on at least one of illumination information relating to the illumination light acting on the object for inspection and object information relating to the object for inspection.
Abstract:
An automated adaptive optics and laser projection system is described. The automated adaptive optics and laser projection system includes an adaptive optics system and a compact laser projection system with related laser guidance programming used to correct atmospheric distortion induced on light received by a telescope. Control of the automated adaptive optics and laser projection system is designed in a modular manner in order to facilitate replication of the system to be used with a variety of different telescopes. Related methods are also described.
Abstract:
A device and method for optically examining the interior of turbid media including acts of spatially separating a plurality of wavelength bands contained in a broad-band light; separately modulating the plurality of wavelength bands; recombining the plurality of modulated wavelength bands to a beam of spectrally encoded broad-band light; illuminating a turbid medium with the beam of spectrally encoded broad-band light; detecting light emanating from the turbid medium with a detector and demodulating the detected light with a demodulator to provide spectroscopic information.
Abstract:
A system and method for determining at least one geometric property of a particle in a sample. A sample is irradiated to thereby generate Raman scattered photons. These photons are collected to generate a Raman chemical image. A first threshold is applied wherein the first threshold is such that all particles in the sample are detected. A particle in the sample is selected and a second threshold is applied so that at least one geometric property of the selected particle can be determined. At least one spectrum representative of the selected particle is analyzed to determine whether or not it is a particle of interest. The step of determining a second threshold may be iterative and automated via software so that candidate second thresholds are applied until a satisfactory result is achieved.
Abstract:
Techniques related to color analysis are disclosed herein. In an example, substrate locations on a printed pattern are selected based on a set of measurements related to substrate-height. Further, color of the printed pattern is determined at the selected locations.
Abstract:
A handheld or portable detection system with a high degree of specificity and accuracy, capable of use at small and substantial standoff distances (e.g., greater than 12 inches) is utilized to identify specific substances and mixtures thereof in order to provide information to officials for identification purposes and assists in determinations related to the legality, hazardous nature and/or disposition decision of such substance(s). The system uses a synchronous detector and visible light filter to enhance detection capabilities.
