Abstract: Optical spectrometer apparatus, systems, and methods for analysis of carbon-14 including a resonant optical cavity configured to accept a sample gas including carbon-14, an optical source configured to deliver optical radiation to the resonant optical cavity, an optical detector configured to detect optical radiation emitted from the resonant cavity and to provide a detector signal; and a processor configured to compute a carbon-14 concentration from the detector signal, wherein computing the carbon-14 concentration from the detector signal includes fitting a spectroscopic model to a measured spectrogram, wherein the spectroscopic model accounts for contributions from one or more interfering species that spectroscopically interfere with carbon-14.

Abstract: A terahertz wave detecting device includes: a substrate; a first metal layer that is disposed above the substrate; a pyroelectric layer that is disposed on the first metal layer; and a second metal layer that is disposed on the pyroelectric layer, wherein the second metal layer has a periodic structure in which a unit structure is disposed in a predetermined period, and the pyroelectric layer absorbs terahertz waves being incident on the pyroelectric layer and converts the terahertz waves into heat and converts the converted heat into an electrical signal.

Abstract: An example embodiment may include a hyperspectral analyzation subassembly configured to obtain information for a sample. The hyperspectral analyzation subassembly may include one or more transmitters configured to generate electromagnetic radiation electromagnetically coupled to the sample, one or more sensors configured to detect electromagnetic radiation electromagnetically coupled to the sample, and an electromagnetically transmissive window. At least one of the sensors may be configured to detect electromagnetic radiation from the sample via the window. The hyperspectral analyzation subassembly may include an analyzation actuation subassembly configured to actuate at least a portion of the hyperspectral analyzation subassembly in one or more directions of movement with respect to the sample.

Abstract: Systems and methods of the present disclosure are directed to detecting species within a fluid using a multi-pass absorption cell and a spectrometer. The absorption cell includes a plurality of mirrors arranged in a manner such that a detection light traverses multiple passes through the fluid within the absorption cell. In some implementations, the detection light is reflected by the plurality of mirrors to form optical paths in more than one plane. The system also includes an electronic unit configured to receive and process spectral data from the spectrometer. In some implementations, the electronic unit communicates with at least one computational unit over a communication interface to send a portion of the spectral data for processing. The electronic unit may also receive processed data from the computational unit.

Abstract: A diffusion chamber for determining different parameters of an aqueous substance includes a vertical central cylinder having a sample chamber for receiving a substance sample and a needle-shaped pH-measuring sensor having a measuring tip which is brought into contact with the substance sample. A spectrophotometer having glass-fiber optics is configured to penetrate the substance sample. A gas supply into the sample chamber is configured to provide a variable gas exposure of the substance sample when determining parameters. A needle of the pH-measuring sensor is inserted into an obliquely extending groove of a slid-in sample slide. A sealing ring on the sample slide is pressed against the central cylinder by means of an inserted spacer ring, the sample chamber is tightly sealed with respect to gases from the surroundings of the diffusion chamber, and a minimum distance is maintained between the lower collimating lens and the substance sample.

Each of the interrogation beams (16) is nominally monochromatic and has a different interrogation wavelength that is in the mid-infrared spectral range.
