The adhesion promoting composition may comprise an adhesion promoting compound having an amine group and at least one of a silane functional group and/or a germanium functional group. The hydrophobic layer forming composition may comprise a hydrophobic layer forming compound having a hydrophobic aliphatic group and at least one of a silane functional group and/or a germanium functional group.

A method of forming the coating is also disclosed.

Laundry treatment compositions having improved consumer acceptance e.g., in relation to phase properties and/or in relation to accomplishing high odor acceptance without over-perfuming. A liquid laundry detergent composition, comprising a non-enzymatic nitrogen-containing component that is capable of having a short-chain amine impurity, and comprising a solvent system capable of promoting dissolution of said nitrogen-containing component while minimizing the tendency of said solvent system to create amine impurity off-odors: wherein the composition comprises; the non-enzymatic nitrogen-containing component wherein said component is comprises less than about 10 ppm of the short-chain amine impurity; and the solvent system; and wherein the composition further comprises at least one of the following conditions: (i) the composition is substantially free of enzyme; (ii) the composition comprises a compatible enzyme preparation; (iii) the composition comprises an odor sweetener; (iv) the composition is substantially free of condensed phases which are capable of decomposing said non-enzymatic nitrogen-containing compound in the detergent composition to produce short-chain amine impurities; and/or (v) said non-enzymatic nitrogen-containing component is purified prior to incorporation into said liquid laundry detergent composition.

A functionalized particle is disclosed. The functionalized particle may include a diamond-particle substrate and a coating comprising at least one polymeric compound on at least a surface portion of the diamond-particle substrate, the at least one polymeric compound having at least one amine group. Additionally, the at least one polymeric compound may be at least partially reacted. The at least one polymeric compound may also be at least partially cured. The diamond substrate may be porous. In addition, a second coating coupled to at least a surface portion of the first coating. A separation apparatus may have a stationary phase including a plurality of diamond particles and a coating comprising at least one polymeric compound on at least a surface portion of the plurality of diamond particles is also disclosed. A method for forming a functionalized particle is also disclosed.
