Abstract: PURPOSE: A high brightness field emission display is provided to achieve improved field emission characteristics by lowering the drive voltage of field emitter and lengthening the scanning time. CONSTITUTION: A field emission display comprises pixels arranged into a matrix shape on a glass substrate. Each of pixels includes a ferroelectric transistor(200) formed on the glass substrate; and a thin film type field emitter(100) formed in the vicinity of the ferroelectric transistor. The ferroelectric transistor includes a band type gate; a ferroelectric film formed on the gate; a floating gate formed in parallel with the gate; an amorphous silicon channel formed by inserting an insulation film on the floating gate; a source and a drain formed on the amorphous silicon channel; and a source electrode and a drain electrode for connecting the source and the drain to an external terminal.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A field emission display is provided to reduce a driving voltage by inputting scan and data signals to control elements of each pixel, and achieve improved luminance by applying a high voltage to an anode plate. CONSTITUTION: A field emission display comprises an anode plate(300) having a transparent electrode and a phosphor formed in a region of the transparent electrode; a cathode plate(100) having matrix signal lines for matrix addressing and pixels defined by the column and row signal lines of the matrix signal lines, wherein each of the pixels has a field emitter and a field emitter control element; a gate plate(200) having a gate hole penetrating through the gate plate, and a gate electrode arranged around the gate hole; and a spacer(400) for supporting the gate plate between the cathode plate and the anode plate. The field emitter of the cathode plate is opposed to the phosphor of the anode plate through the gate hole, and vacuum packaged.

Abstract: A high-resolution field emission display that applies a field emission device(or a field emission array) being an electron source element to a flat panel display device. The field emission display includes an upper plate and a lower plate that fac each other, wherein the lower plate and the upper plate are vacuum-packaged in parallel positions. A dot pixel of the lower plate includes a high-voltage amorphous silicon thin film transistor formed on the glass substrate of the lower plate, a diode type field emission film partially formed on the drain of the high-voltage amorphous silicon TFT, a passivation insulation layer formed on the high-voltage amorphous silicon TFT and the lateral side of the diode type field emission film, and an electron beam focusing electrode/light-shading film which vertically overlaps with the high-voltage amorphous silicon TFT on some parts of the passivation insulation layer and is formed on a lateral side of the diode type field emission film. A dot pixel of the upper plate includes a transparent electrode formed on the glass substrate of the upper plate, and a red, green or blue phosphor formed on some parts of the transparent electrode. Therefore, the high-resolution field emission display device can obtain an effect of focusing the electron beam trajectory and a light-shading effect for the TFT at the same time, and thus remarkably enhance the performance and the resolution of the field emission display.
