Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a field emission type electron source element for high performance color picture tube to which high resolution is required. SOLUTION: An electrode structure having a convergence effect is arranged proximity to the vicinity of an extraction electrode of a cold cathode electron source array part, whereby the convergence effect of emitted electron beams is enhanced to provide a satisfactory low-emittance characteristic. Consequently, an electron gun or display device having a high resolution characteristic can be realized.
Abstract:
In a digital communication system where a received stuff-synchronized TDM signal is demultiplexed into data signals each containing a sequence of frames. Each frame contains a pointer to indicate the start timing of the frame and specify positive, negative or zero destuffing. A pointer is detected from each data signal and compared with a previous pointer of the data signal stored in a memory. From this comparison the type of destuffing to be performed on a frame is determined, and in response to it, +1, -1 or 0 is added to the previous pointer to produce a current pointer, which is then used to rewrite the previous point. A binary clock count value is generated by a single phase counter and compared with the current pointer to generate a start-of-frame signal if it equals the current value.
Abstract:
An apparatus of providing vertical smoothing of convergence correction signals in a digital convergence system is disclosed. The surface of a cathode ray tube is subdivided into a matrix including a plurality of intersecting rows and columns and having a plurality of intersections corresponding thereto. A value is assigned to each intersection of a row and a column of said matrix. An electron beam traces a plurality of scan lines within each of the rows of the matrix. For each scan line within a row of the matrix, a convergence correction signal is synthesized using the plurality of values associated with the plurality of intersections in said row. A plurality of horizontal discontinuities are present in the convergence correction signal as a result of the different magnitudes associated with the plurality of values used to synthesize the convergence correction signal. Using conventional filtering techniques, the impact of the horizontal discontinuities in the convergence correction signal may be minimized thereby providing horizontal smoothing of the convergence correction signal. When the electron beam begins tracing the plurality of scan lines in the next, subsequent row of the matrix, a vertical discontinuity is produced, i.e., a gap or an overlap between groups of scan lines traced by the electron beam. The impact of these vertical discontinuities can be minimized by providing vertical smoothing of the convergence correction signal. This vertical smoothing is accomplished by using a linear interpolator to interpolate between values associated with two adjacent, vertically oriented intersections of said matrix, and by progressively changing the magnitude of the convergence correction signal in response thereto. Vertical smoothing of the convergence correction signal is accomplished and the vertical discontinuities between groups of scan lines traced by the electron beams are eliminated.
Abstract:
If in a device for displaying colored pictures comprising a color display tube of the "in-line" type, which comprises magnetized means for maintaining a static magnetic multipole magnetic field near the output of the electron gun system for carrying out static beam corrections, a correction magnet is provided outside the neck near the output of the electron gun system and near at least one outermost electron beam, which magnet forms a magnetic dipole and is intersected by the said plane and which correction magnet is small with respect to its distance to said electron beam, it is possible afterwards to provide small corrections in the horizontal static convergence.
Abstract:
The invention provides a charged particle beam system wherein the middle section of the focused ion beam column is biased to a high negative voltage allowing the beam to move at higher potential than the final beam energy inside that section of the column. At low kV potential, the aberrations and coulomb interactions are reduced, which results in significant improvements in spot size.
Abstract:
The systems and methods described herein relate to the use of electrostatic elements or combinations of electrostatic and magnetic elements to confine charged particles in stable recirculating, trapped orbits. More particularly, the invention relates to systems and methods for acceleration and focusing of multiple charged particle beams having multiple energies and arbitrary polarities along a common axis.
