PURPOSE: Provided is an antioxidant comprising 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzaldehyde as an active ingredient, which has an improved free radical elimination power than that of existing material, and excellent anti-acidification of pig fat and palm oil, and thus can be widely used as an antioxidant such as additives for fat and fatty oil processed foods. CONSTITUTION: The antioxidant comprises 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzaldehyde as an effective ingredient. The 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzaldehyde is extracted from stem and leaf of Geum japonicum. Fat and fatty oil processed foods comprise an extract or dry powder of Geum japonicum comprising 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzaldehyde.

The present invention provides a composition for preventing or treating metabolic diseases selected from the group consisting of obesity, dyslipidemia, fatty liver, and insulin resistance syndrome, comprising an Allium sativum L. stem extract as an active ingredient. The composition of the present invention induces the inhibition of adipocyte differentiation, reduction in body fat, reduction in visceral fat, reduction of total cholesterol, and reductions in serum triglycerides and hepatic triglyceride, thereby ultimately exhibiting activity to prevent or treat obesity, hyperlipidemia, or fatty liver. Further, the composition of the present invention causes significant reductions in fasting blood level and serum insulin concentration, thereby exhibiting an effect of improving insulin resistance and an efficacy of ameliorating metabolic diseases closely associated therewith.

An RNAi carrier is provided to be used for obtaining a transgenic Perilla frutescens which has the 4% decreased alpha-linolenic acid content and extended storage period and decreases the rancidity problem and foul odor generated during the rancidity. An RNAi carrier for inhibiting the expression of delta 15 desaturase is described in SEQ ID : NO. 2. PURPOSE: Provided is a process for separating rosmarinic acid from Agastache rugosa in high purity, wherein the rosmarinic acid is used for producing antioxidizing material and used as additives in food or medical supplies. CONSTITUTION: The process comprises the steps of: drying the Agastache rugosa to have a water content of less than 6 wt. and then pulverizing; adding 2-6 times water, based on the weight of the pulverized Agastache rugosa, to obtain the extracted solution of the Agastache rugosa; filtering the extracted solution, performing an adsorption chromatography and then collecting and condensing activated fractions to obtain the concentrated solution of the rosmarinic acid; performing a gel chromatography of the concentrated solution and drying fractions containing the rosmarinic acid.
