Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a hair deforming agent composition capable of reforming vicious hair without injuring and excellent in its persistency by allowing to contain a specific sulfobenzoic acid or its salt. CONSTITUTION:This hair deforming agent composition contains a sulfobenzoinc acid which may have substituted groups on the benzene ring, or its salt, especially a compound expressed by the formula {R is H, an alkali metal, an alkali earth metal, etc.; at least one of R -R is SO3R [R is H, an alkali(earth) metal, etc.] and the rest of them are H, COOH, an alkyl, etc.}. Further, the composition is preferably allowed to contain a surfactant and a silicone or a surfactant and a cationic polymer. As the sulfobenzoic acid of the formula, o-sulfobenzoic acid, msulfobenzoic acid, p-sulfobenzoic acid, etc., are preferable. As the surfactant, an amino acid-based surfactant, phosphoric acid ester-based surfactant, etc., are preferable. As the cationic polymer, a cationized cellulose derivative is preferable.

Then the compound expressed by formula 4 is allowed to react with a compound expressed by formula 5 (R and R are 1-6C alkyl capable of having OH, alkenyl or H) or glycerols or hydrolyzed, or the hydrolyzate is neutralized with a base to advantageously provide a partially new substance expressed by formula 6 to formula 9 (at least one of R to R is formula 10 and the remainder is 1-22C alkyl, alkenyl, acyl or H; M is a cation selected from alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, ammonium and organic ammonium; formula 6 and formula 9 are new compounds).

The compound is preferably used as a skin preparation for external use in a dosage form such as a lotion, an emulsion, a skin lotion, a dentifrice, a soap, a cataplasma and a cream regulated so as to include 0.001-10 wt.%, preferably 0.01-5 wt.% compound of the formula.

One or more kinds of compounds among the compound of the formula may preferably be added to a hair cosmetic such as pre-shampoo, shampoo or hair rinse in an amount of 0.01-20 wt.%.

SOLUTION: This guaidine derivative is represented by formula I [A and B are each a 2-8C alkylene; D is a direct bond, CO or a 1-6C alkylene; E is H, a lower alkyl, an aralkyl or an aryl; (m) is 1-6; (n) is 0-6; R is H, a lower alkyl or (AO)m -(BO)n -D-E, with the proviso that, when A is a straight-chain alkylene and (m) is 1 and (n) is 0, R is not H and, when R is H, methyl or hydroxyethyl, (AO)m -(BO)n -D-E is not hydroxyethyl and, when R is H, (AO)m -(BO)n -D-E is not a lower alkoxyethyl] or its acid addition salt. The derivative is obtained by reacting an amine of formula II with a guanidylating reagent. The compound of formula I includes e.g. 2-(2-hydroxyethoxy)ethyl-guanidine.
