    Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve wear resistance and corrosion resistance by forming a protective layer comprising a specified polyurethane having specified mol.wt. obtd. by specified reaction on a ferromagnetic metal layer. CONSTITUTION: A protective layer formed on a metal layer consists of a polyurethane having 500 to 10000 average mol.wt. This polyurethane is obtd. by the following reaction. An isocyanate expressed by formula Q-(NCO)z is made to react with a compd. expressed by formula Rf -A-B and/or a compd. expressed by formula X-RH-B. In formulae, Q is an alkyl, cycloalkyl or heterocycloalkyl group, (z) is an integer 1 to 5, Rf is a perfluoro (cyclo) alkyl or perfluoroalkyl aryl group having 3 to 30 carbon atoms, A is -(CH2 )n -, wherein(n)= 1 to 10, B is -OH, =NK, -NH2 or -(COOH), RH is an alkyl or cycloalkyl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, and X is -H, -OH, =NH, -NH2 , -SO3 H or -SO3 Na.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a process for producing a magnetic recording medium of a metallic thin layer type which does not exhibit the defect of the loss of the residual induction to be induced at the time of reproduction while the deviation from the desirable magnetic direction of the magnetic recording medium produced by the conventional method brings about such loss and more particularly the magnetic recording medium of the metallic thin film type of which the projection of the desirable magnetic direction with respect to a tape surface is aligned to an average recording direction. CONSTITUTION: The magnetic recording medium substantially consisting of a polymer band-like substrate guided on a cylindrical drum and more particularly a roller-shaped cooling drum and the tightly adhesive thin layer of a ferromagnetic material is produced by forming the vapor jet of this ferromagnetic material from an evaporating device 6 to which this material is supplied in a reduced pressure chamber 1 and depositing the vapor jet by evaporation on this substrate. At this time, the vapor jet 7 is brought into collision against the substrate 2 at the angle different from 90 deg.. The revolving shaft of the cylindrical drum 4 for guiding the substrate is inclined with respect to the plane of the evaporating device 6.

CONSTITUTION: Concerning this tape cassette, guiding elements 24, 15, 16 and 17 are provided respectively symmetrically to a lateral center line (q), one-side elements 15 and 17 of pairs (24-15, 15-16 and 16-17) are formed on the bottom face part and the other-side elements 24 and 16 are formed on the apex face part respectively. Then, a tape 3 is passed from a hub 1 through a guiding pin 22 and a deflecting roller 14, passed through guiding webs 24 and 15 formed as flat webs, pinch roller 13, guiding web 16 and guiding pin 17 to the center line (q) and further traveled to the hub 2 in reverse order.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To form a magnetic recording medium of dispersion liquid which is extremely stable even after being stored for a long period for magnetic recording medium manufacture and obtain wear resistance which is improved even in high-temperature, high-humidity conditions. CONSTITUTION: As for the magnetic recording medium which has a magnetizable layer formed on a nonmagnetic substrate, magnetic powder is dispersed in a binder mixture, which consists of (A) 3 to 35% polyurethane urena (meth) acrylate, (B) 5 to 97% anion-group containing polyurena urethane, and (C) a 15 to 60% general polymer binder containing no ion group.
