Abstract: A process for the distillative separation of (meth)acrylic monomer containing liquids in a distillation column comprises direct cooling to form a condensate in a condensation chamber such that the direct cooling of the liquid is carried out in at least two separate spray zones arranged in series. A process for the distillative separation of (meth)acrylic monomer containing liquids in a distillation column (I) from the head of which (meth)acrylic monomer containing liquor is removed and directly cooled to form a condensate whereby the condensation chamber at the head of the column is separated from the region containing effective separating components of the distillation column by only one tray and is characterized in that the direct cooling of the liquid is carried out in at least two separate spray zones arranged in series by spraying of super cooled polymerization inhibitor containing head condensate whereby the temperature of the sprayed super cooled head condensate reduces from spray zone to spray zone. An Independent claim is included for the distillation column (I) comprising at least one tray and a spray condenser having at least two spray zones.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method of producing methyl formiate by reacting excess methanol with carbon monoxide under increased pressure and increased temperature in the presence of an alkalimethylate or alkaline earth methylate as the catalyst in a pressure-proof reactor. The inventive method uses at least two reactor elements, preferably countercurrent reactors, at a temperature of approximately 100 DEG C and a pressure of approximately 100 bar in combination with a solid-matter free desalination of the reactor product. The inventive method provides a means for producing methyl formiate of any quality desired and with an excellent production capacity in a very economical and complication-free manner. The invention further relates to a method of solid-matter free desalination and to devices for carrying out the inventive method.
