    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a melanin suppressing agent capable of preventing and improving melanization by acting on an epidermal melanin metabolism system and having excellent effect capable of preventing and improving stain or ephelis due to suntan, etc., and excellent in blending property to a cosmetic base. CONSTITUTION:This melanin suppressing agent contains an amine derivative of formula I (R is 4-40C straight-chain, branched chain or cyclic saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group; R to R are H or 1-10C hydrocarbon groups whose hydrogen atoms may be substituted with one or more OH groups) or its acid addition salt, e.g. 1-(2-hydroxyethylamino)-3-tetradesiloxy-2-propanol. The compound is blended in an amount of 0.0001-10wt.%, especially 0.001-2wt.% based on total composition of a cosmetic to provide a beautifying cosmetic excellent in effect capable of preventing and treating melanization. The compound of formula 1 is obtained by adding an amine derivative of formula 3 to a glycidyl ether derivative of formula 2.

CONSTITUTION:The wrinkle improver and keratinization improver consists of an amine derivative of formula I (R is 8-40C straight-chain or branched chain hydrocarbon group which may have OH; R to R are H or 1-7C hydrocarbon group which may have OH; R is 2-6C hydrocarbon group which may have OH; X is OR , CO2R or CONR R (R to R are H or 1-20C hydrocarbon which contains O) or its acid addition salt or quaternary compound, e.g. 1-(2 hydroxyethylamino)-2,16-hexadecanediol. This compound has action capable of suppressing DNA synthesis of an epidermic cell, promoting differential induction and suppressing hyperplasia of epidermis. The compound of formula I is obtained by subjecting an alcohol of formula 2 to halogenation or sulfonic acid esterification and adding an amine of formula 4 to the resultant compound of formula 3.

The cosmetic is free from skin stimulation, onset of allergy, etc., and has high safety.

The compound, for example, is obtained by condensing p-hydroxygenzaldehyde with an alkylmalonic acid in the presence of a base such as pyridine or piperidine and optionally esterifying.

The amount thereof blended is 0.1-5wt.% based on the total composition.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an external agent having excellent melanin-suppressing effect (skin-beautifying effect) and high safety, by compounding castanospermine as an active compound. CONSTITUTION:The objective external agent having remarkable skin-beautifying effect and high safety can be produced by adding preferably >=0.01wt%, especially 1-20wt% castanospermine of formula as an active component to various external agents such as ointment, gel, pack, cream, foundation, sebaceous gland activation cosmetic, etc. The melanin-suppressing and skin-beautifying effects of the above active component are absolutely different from those of conventional skin-beautifying agent and are supposed to be based on the conversion of the sugar chain of tyrosinase to suppress the development of tyrosinase activity. The above external agent may be compounded with other drug-active components such as anti-inflammatory analgesic agent, etc., in addition to the above active component. Especially, the effect can be promoted by the addition of a substance capable of improving the increasing tendency of melanin in epidermis by delaying the keratinization of cuticle.
