Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic recording medium having stability to he degradation in the chemical quality without deteriorating its magnetic characteristics by forming magnetic layers having a prescribed softening point and incorporating perfluoroacrylate of a prescribed weight of the weight of chromium dioxide into these layers. CONSTITUTION: This magnetic recording medium is formed of a nonmagnetic substrate and at least one layer of the magnetic layers which are applied on this substrate, are formed of a magnetic material well dispersed into a polymer binder and known additives and contain at least 30wt.% ferromagnetic chromium dioxide. The magnetic layers contain the perfluoroacrylate having the softening point of >=110 deg.C at 0.1 to 8wt.% of the weight of the chromium dioxide. The magnetic layers preferably contain the perfluoroacrylate having the softening point of >=120 deg.C at 0.4 to 4wt.% of the weight of the chromium dioxide. As a result, the magnetic recording medium mainly contg. the chromium dioxide which does not deteriorate the magnetic characteristics, has the improved stability to the degradation in the chemical quality and does not impair the mechanical characteristics in spite of a temp. changing at a high temp. is obtd.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve the adhesiveness of a magnetic layer to a polymer substrate by irradiating the substrate with UV having such energy density as not to cause ablation in a specified wavelength region by means of excimer laser. CONSTITUTION: A polymer substrate is irradiated with UV having such energy density as not to cause ablation in the wavelength region of 150-400nm by means of a noninterference excimer plan or excimer laser. The energy density depends on the polymer. In this case, UV excimer laser is preferably used and the number of pulses is preferably made as small as 1-25 pulses per unit area of the substrate. The treated substrate is coated with a magnetic coating material prepd. by dispersing a pigment in a binder mixture contg. polyurethane, a dried binder, a dispersant, a lubricant and inorg. filler particles and then orientation with a magnet and smoothening by calendering are carried out.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a container for magnetic tape that certainly protects the tape from external forces such as a shock, dropping, dust, moisture or the like, and it is simple to fabricate, low-cost and of reduced volume, namely occupied space. CONSTITUTION: A bottom tray 1 is provided on its reel with a projection 3 having notches 5 distributed on its periphery and a round top 6 in a projection 3 so slanted as to form a concave to its inward. The top tray 2 is provided with a projected annular part 8 with a diameter larger than the projection 3, a lug 9 is provided on at least one peripheral edge side, and its leading edge has been bent so as to engage in a groove 9' shaped in correspondence to the other tray in the closed state. Another lug 10 with a similar structure is injection-molded on a slanted end 11 in a holding handle 12, and attaches on the slanted ends 11 and 11' of the both trays handles 12 and 12' retained mutually and complementarily so as to be mutually engaged when the container is closed.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic recording medium which contains main chromium dioxide as a magnetic material and does not have the drawbacks of drop-outs in copying by a sprinter process method. CONSTITUTION: The magnetic memory medium consists of a nonmagnetic substrate and a magnetic layer applied thereon. This magnetic layer is obtd. by applying a dispersion prepd. by uniformly dispersing at least 40wt.% acicular ferromagnetic chromium dioxide in a polymer binder consisting of polyurethane as a base on the substrate, then drying the coating. The magnetic layer in particular has an inside surface area of 5 to 30m /cm and the pigment concn. PVC per volume attains 45 to 65%. The magnetic recording medium is thus made adaptable to the sprinter process of rapid copying.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To reduce height of a container without changing direction of inserting a cassette into the container by using the container with a rectangular parallelepiped form having a decreasing wall thickness along its transverse axis for a compact cassette with an elevated head. CONSTITUTION: A container for a tape cassette has a bottom wall 7 and a lid 8, which is formed with a pocket 11 for admitting a head 9 of the cassette 6. The pocket 11 has its front wall 12. A lid wall 13 of the lid 8 reduces its wall thickness d in the direction from its externally longitudinal edge L to the pocket 11. Namely, the wall thickness d gradually decreases from the edge L to portion A and slightly increases again from A to B portion. Therefore, the thickness is thinnest at A and discontinuously reduced at the orthogonal cross-lines. Accordingly, there appears a slanting rectangular-parallelepiped receiving space V within external shapes of the wall 13 and 14, and the whole container can reduce its height.
